Ok first of all I'm just wondering if anyone has info on this. It's not something that is important to me, but might be useful to some others. Then again it might not even be an issue with diesels. When I had my F150 their was a how to on the forum to interupt the signal to the front axle solenoid. So by throwing this switch when you put the truck in 4low you were only really putting the rear wheels into the low range of the transfer case. I'm sure push button 4 wheel drive is similar in the chevy as it was in the ford. Guys wanted to do this so say they are backing their camper into the driveway. The drive way is at an agle, and they don't want to have to put a log of gas peddal into getting the trailer moving. They also didn't want to try and back the trailer up in 4low taking the chance of damaging something in the front end. Like I said I know that with a diesel their is more torque so it may not be an issue. Just something I thought of, and did a search with no results. If need be I can try to find the old post from the F150 forum to see how similar it would be to doing this on our Chevys/GMCs

I'm not sure. I know with my 02 2500HD gas engine it struggled to back up a 10,000 lb trailer. The allision with the diesel is a whole different story on my new 08. Its almost geared down too much for me when I go to back up plowing. Its too slow.

I have a buddy with an older 1/2 ton chevy and he puts it in 4wd and then pulls a fuse unlocking the front end. I don't know if we can do this.

o yeah, if youve ever backed up a duramax with a allison, youll know why they didnt have the 2low. if you give it too much throttle in reverse youll be eating the dash. incrediable torque in reverse!!
