I curently have an 02 duramax alli with 4" exhaust, afe intake, gauges, and vanaaken 230, 110 set up in my duramax. 110 setting is flowles, 230 setting can trip the tranny at will. how much of a diference does the trany mods make. how are the shifts? I am looking for something to make my trany shift better in the 230 program and not limp it. But i don't want a hard shift eather when normal driving. truck now has 65000 on it and all is good. but would be nice to use the 230 program and not limp and also get better shifts. kind of seems to slide into gear on the 230. but perfectly flawless on the 110 program.

your first post wow, there is lots of gret reading on this subject using the search feature above, basically you will be able to handle all the power you can throw at, your 230hp will feel a lot stronger than before, from the upgraded tq converter, and the shifting will feel cleaner than the delayed stock shift, but still not to firm or sharp, great for pulling as well

You don't know what your missing...........

If you do a search in the ALLISON FORUM...........the subject has been beat to death just like a red-headed step child.............

Figure out what you can afford, buy a kit if you have the capability, find a competent tranny shop to do an install if you are not mechanically inclined to do it yourself............or buy a complete unit from ATS, Suncoast, or DTT or have Mike L. hook you up if you can get to Southern California.........

Just make sure you get enough tranny the first time..........

If you do any reading in the Allison Forum.............bring lot's of popcorn, beer and a comfortable chair............):h

I have a complete ats with copilot controller. That setup is easy to make it shift nice and soft if you want it to, and holds alot of power. That is just my experience.

i have been looking at the suncoast level three would that be enough? Was also intersted in doing a big head wastgate. would that make any diferance. the only thing so far that is holding me back here in vermont from doing the trany is no one has touched the alison yet that i know of. what kind of power can you throw at the stage three? sometime i would like to upgrade tghe turbo but can't seem to find much info on that. My turbo seems to drop it boost and bring it back up again when in fith gear past three quarters pedal.

suncoast level three is fine, just keep in mind what tony said "Just make sure you get enough tranny the first time.........." , very true statment
yes the bighead in your system will show some good results, take your maximum boost uo a few pounds over stock, and get the boost quicker, as for dealer installs, when you talk with joe webb at suncoast about your upgrade, he will inform you of the vermont dealers and shops installing his stuff

My 04.5 was dynoed at Kennedy's with the Juice/*** and hit 370 rwhp. Eric did the tranny the next day and it was again put on the rollers, 420 rwhp. Needless to say, it makes a HUGE difference.

talked to suncoast aome time ago and he said he has not don one in vermont yet. but did give me some phone # of certified trans shops.

was reading other posts and saw that some people hit there rev limiter with the sun coast and a big va box like i have. do you all think i would be ok with my set up and the suncoast trany? don't race do have a 10000 pound camper that gets pulled maybe 8 times per year and not far but do like to hot rod when some sports care or other brand of truck pulls up next to me. it's funny to see there expretion when you have a 7500lb truck leave them at the light like the were tied.

Doing a trans makes as much difference in a truck as having sun to make daylight...

You can do without, but man is it nice when its there.
