On a recent trip, I was in serious traffic in Dallas. I was going about 5mph, jumped around someone and nailed the thottle. Not to the floor but alot more than normal. A cloud of smoke was in the rearview mirror and strong acceleration. Ounce I got to 65, it would not accelerate anymore. If I pushed the thottle down more, I would start slowing down. This went on for a few minutes. I pulled over thinking that I had broke somthing. I started off again, and the same thing. I pulled over again and ran the transmission through all gears at a stop, and then shut it off for about 5 minutes. Started right back up and everything was fine. I put about 2000 miles on it after that on the trip. I have 15000 miles on it now. Is this somthing I should be concerned with? What should I do ?

this "almost" sounds like you limped the tranny. did you happen to notice what RPM you were at that you couldn't go any faster? Its like just under 2k rpm's and the fix is to shut the motor off for a few minutes and then its fine.
I haven't heard it described like this, but it sure sounds like limping the tranny...
any mods to it?

I really can not remember what RPM it was, if I had to guess it would be around the 2k mark. I dont have any mods on this truck. Should I take it to the dealer and have them check it out or is it just as simple as turning it off for a few minutes.

The P1093 does that. It's the limp-home mode.
It's not 65mph though, it's 2000RPM that does it, which on a 2500HD = 65mph.
No codes?

What Mcrat said.....I would bet the house on the 1093.

Thanks for all the advise. I think I will take it in and get a reflash done anyway. Just to have them check it out and fix a few minor things I have.
