04 GMC LB7, trying to remove ft pipe (one with cat). It appears you need to remove the cross member holding the transmission. What is best way to hold the transmission up - plan to put plywood under pan and hold it up that way. Will this crush the pan, does not look to strong! Would like to save old ft pipe with cat in case any future questions at dealers.

YOu dont have to remove it. Just unbolt the bracket from the trans, it falls right out

My first attempt at removal - I could not remove rear bracket bolt even with an open end. Next try, gee wrong size wrench, right size worked.
