CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF THE EARLY MODEL PSD'S HAD A WASTEGATE?????
I HAVE A FRIEND THAT HAS ONE THAT HE BOUGHT A FEW MONTHS AGO. IT HAD A "NEW" ENGINE IN IT WHEN HE BOUGHT IT. WELL, HES RAN IT FOR A MONTH OR TWO AND NOW IT HAS ALOT OF BLOW BY. HE TOOK IT TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND THE MECHANIC TOLD HIM THE REASON THAT IT HAS ALL OF THE BLOW BY WAS BECAUSE THE WASTEGATE WASNT WORKING PROPERLY AND IT WORE THE CYLINDERS OUT. I WANNA CALL BS ON THIS, TO MUCH BOOST BLOWS HEAD GASKETS NOT WEARS CYLINDERS:eek: RIGHT? FINALLY HE TOOK THE ENGINE OUT AND BEGAN OVERHAULING IT. WHEN HE GOT IT DISASSEMBLED HE FOUND OUT THAT HIS "NEW" ENGINE WAS BORED 30 OVER AND HAD A 10/10 CRANK IN IT AS WELL. THIS ENGINE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE NEW AND WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. SO YOU FORD GUYS MIGHT WANNA DOUBLE CHECK WHEN GETTING A WARRANTY ENGINE

Pickups with PSDs before mid 99 had no wastegate. E vans never had a wastegated housing til the 6.0 .If the fueling is stock it shouldnt be able to make enough boost to hurt anything, even if the wastegate isnt opening.

Thanks For Clearing This Up. I Looked At The Turbo On This Particular Truck And I Didnt See What I Thought Was A Wastegate. I Did See A Butterfly Type Plate In The Exhuast Outlet Of The Turbo And Thought It Was More Of A "quick Warmer Upper" To Make The Engine Heat Up Quicker On A Cold Morning. But, I Thought It Might Be Possible That They Somehow Controlled The Boost With This Mechanisim :)

Many sellers term remanufactured as "new." It's often thought that way in talking with dealerships. 10/10 on the crankshaft & + .030 isn't a problem.
