: I can sell you on a 7.1 stroker
68skylark455 12-06-2008, 10:58 PM I finally got to drive it more today. It only has about 10 miles on it so far but damn. It spools up very quick, temps were very good-even a little lower than I wolud imagine. I left a light at about 1/2 throttle and when it left-it left! Hit second, snapped our necks and made my son cuss! Now we did a complete change up here-heads, cam, stroker kit, headers, gt4202R, billet main caps, billet injector hold downs, head and main studs, I modified the y-bridge to a 3" tube, 50hp tips so it not just a stroker-its a killer:eek:
When it hits 500 miles I will put it to the floor:cool:
RickDLance 12-06-2008, 11:05 PM 500 miles....Git-R-Done!:thumb:

The truck does all the shutting up. As soon as I get the "good" tune and the registration I will drive it everyday for about 2 weeks-trying to give him a cool christmas gift:cool:
LWATSON 12-07-2008, 09:41 AM When it hits 500 miles I will put it to the floor:cool: Allright how was it, I know you put at least 500 miles on it last night:D
Rhall 12-07-2008, 01:21 PM Good, keep us updated, lets see if we can keep this thread on track without any other vendors or their cheeleaders slamming another vendors pruducts, that way they cant control which threads get locked.
ChevyDieselLLY 12-07-2008, 04:19 PM the title should read "I can sell your wife on the 7.1L" haha
glad to hear that it is pretty much done. what type of cam did you go with? or does the kit come with one?
banshee42096 12-07-2008, 09:46 PM make sure you tell my wife it will give me better fuel milage;)
ChevyDieselLLY 12-07-2008, 11:21 PM well she did fall in love with EFI Live when we drove home and i only filled up 2 times compared to the past times we had to fill up 3. i like how you think

When I described what I was doing to Guy he took the info and the turbo I chose he went off that and sold me the perfect cam for what I am doing. It doesn't come with the stroker kit-yet-but He worked out a deal with me-hes good people. And everytime I had a stupid question (actually several:confused: of them) and he was always ready to help. I have made alot of friends with this build and have learned alot but there is still more power in these things-maybe a belt driven charger:eek: to go with the NOS.
IOWA LLY 12-08-2008, 12:17 PM Congrats, sounds like a sweet ride.
Can't wait to hear some track times or dyno results of this bad boy!

It would actually be just easier to sell your wife for a 7.1L stroker. It just saves a bunch of messy steps along the way.

Its only money:D My friends and customers have a joke they came up with about me-"If I left Larry my checkbook, I would have a sweet ride"
I just respond by saying no, leave me the card and the check book.

HMMM. Any takers?:D
68skylark455 12-17-2008, 02:27 PM Well, so far I can tell you the EGT's are very low, there is nnooooooo turbo lag anymore and when the hose blows off the intercooler to intake pipe its fricking loud:eek::D Ask Mr. Jewell, he was holding the laptop:D

Whats the name of your shop?
RickDLance 12-17-2008, 06:38 PM PM him for that info. He is not a supporting vendor and would most likely get in trouble if he says. ;)

Yes, its a very expensive undertaking. But, so far (100 miles into it) this thing is a monster:eek:
Tbirdfiend281 12-21-2008, 03:43 PM that doesn't seem expensive at all especially if you compare it to motor upgrades that dont have to do with a motor
why did the stroking lower the EGT's so much and make it spool up so much quicker?
does this stroker setup square out the block by putting the stroke alot closer to the 4.06 bore?
68skylark455 12-22-2008, 03:09 PM Basically, with the increase in cubic inches you increase the exhaust output which helps but imo the headers, uppipes, cam and larger intake tube are what did the trick-unfortunately we did so much modifications to this thing its impossible to pin point the exact reason for the spool up increase. People tell me several different things and I am still learning. There was some video proof somewhere of the increase just from the headers on a stock LB7 versus the stock exhaust. Someone said an increase of 7lbs of boost. Either way I know saturday I kinda got after this thing a little-going 65 and when I snapped the throttle I went to 36lbs of boost almost instantly and went to 105mph quicker then I really wanted too:eek:-it was scary-I have driven some very fast vehicles in my time but this thing caught me off guard-I am ready for it now:D
Tbirdfiend281 12-24-2008, 01:06 PM so where did you source your up pipes and 'exhaust manifolds' from?
i think i am going to go ahead an upgrade those if i decide to start toying with my fuel system a little bit
Got Juice? 12-24-2008, 01:38 PM I have driven some very fast vehicles in my time but this thing caught me off guard-I am ready for it now:D
Now that you think you are ready for it.....TWIN IT!
That would be insane! 108MM Turbonetics on the bottom!!!!!! :rk:

Try Blowing a complete double clamped boot over 68PSIG.
It makes owning leather seats a plus..... because you can wipe them off!

i think they are RickDLance's work. he does very nice work buddy was puttin on a set over the weekend.
quackaddict 12-24-2008, 05:24 PM how is $40,000- -$46,000 not to expensive:eek: If it was between $4000-$5000 I would be rocking one.

Yes they were and I had them ceramic coated and polished when I got them to make them "shiny" and maybe be cooler. So far, crusing at 70 with the cruise on and sitting back relaxing the EGT's are 590 to 620 and when you hit a hill it goes to 780 to 810 for an instant. Sitting there idling last night after "running" it a little hard I was letting it cool down-the EGT's dropped to 290 instantly.
Tbirdfiend281 12-30-2008, 07:34 PM i thought he meant 4000 to 4600?
those up pipes pricey from rickdlance?
floriduramax1 12-30-2008, 07:52 PM How do ya put $46,000 in 6.6 liter engine? Did some of this go towards the tranny?

thats the thing its no longer a 6.6L its an awesome 7.1L plus you have to add it the work. i dont think he did it for free even tho he does seem like a pretty cool guy. haha

HeavyHD 12-31-2008, 11:54 PM Oh...now I get it:rolleyes:

If you already had stage 2 heads and dual fueler, charger etc etc maybe.
Tbirdfiend281 01-02-2009, 01:40 AM if you did it piece by piece, you could probably stomach the price a little better, but youd have to do your own work so you wouldnt go crazy with the cost of labor
i think if you just did a built bottom end it wouldnt get to crazyily priced, but then its kind of like whats the point
