I cant seem to find a simple answer to my ? Kragen's computer thinks it is 4.96 quarts. i have seen figures online of 8qts and 15qts including torque converter. Anyone have this handy? Thanks

Depends on what your doing to it. If you drop the pan and change the filter 5 quarts may be it. Total capacity is about 16quarts I think.

from bone dry it will hold about 15qts if you are just doing a tranny service it will take 6 or 7 with stock pan and stock cooler .

Well i got it from a wrecking yard, so i guess i should assume it was empty. i did not refill the TC and dont know if it was full. I put 9qts in it and it is shifting in reverse ok but seems like it is slipping badly in drive. i have an aftermarket lokar filler which seemed to show full after 5 qts which i know was not enough. so i dont know how to calibrate the dipstick/filler. is there any danger in overfilling it? Thanks

the only thing that will happen if you over fill it is when it gets hot it will-:t out the vent tube all over the underside of your truck . fill it up start it shift it to "d" and "r" then shut it off get under the truck remove the filler tube from the trans the level should be around fiush with the hole in the trans ):h

Just a side note***

With my PML pan on my 4L80E rebuilt and new TC it took 4 gal of ATF.
