It has been doing this 4 awhile. Brought it to the dealer they were worthless. Heres the problem..Bout a month ago i bought an RBP tuner put it 2 the 100hp tune. Truck ran fine was fast and awesome. Now i here a ticking sound from the drivers side of the motor when i accelerate hard.. Only rite away, then it goes away as i get faster. So i took the tuner out and ran it on stock. The tick is very faint then. Put the tuner back in and it is loud. Any ideas?? Gets louder the more fuel i try 2 run through it. Doesnt make any sense. Its driving me crazy!! Any help or suggestions would be awesome..Its an 06 LLY

So why is the dealer worthless??...it has a issue with the turner it seems, it sounds like some normal fuel fuel knock noise. and the tuner makes it worse cause it changes the timing and the amount of fuel etc. I bet its normal...and remember not all dealers are worthless...:cool:

How can i fix this problem? Better lift pump or injection pump??

Mine does it also just something these engines do ya know nothing to worry bout mines done it since the day it rolled off the dealer lot in may of 2006. Actually i like it cause it sets my truck aside from the normal crowd and makes the other dmax owners wonder what does he have done to that truck ha lol!!!

Some hot tunes have a crap load of timing and can make the injectors a little noisey or so I am told.

I also heard you can quite down some noisey injectors with lubricity. (additive - some even ad 2 stroke oil into a tank or two of gas)

Exactly. This is not an engine problem. The ticking noise is common with the Duramax. No worries, just drive the truck and keep your tuner levels moderate or below.

Everybody says its good, mine does this, so does many others. Must be normal..

Just one more on the pile, but mine does it do, and intermittently. Definitely sounds 'not right', but after reading on here for the last few years and the fact it hasn't blown up on me, I'm just rolling with it as suggested above. Luckily the frame beaming, 2 piece driveshaft issues, and front/rear suspension issues keep me occupied to distract me from the ticking.:cool:

Wait just a second how can it be a timing rattle when the truck is stock? Now if you take EFI Live and turn the timing up it will definely rattle but I highly doubt with a stock truck thats its a timing rattle

i am wondering the same thing and it has been worrying the shit out of me. i ran an edge for 2 years and sold it off so i could afford EFI. it had what i thought was timing rattle. but even after i got rid of it i notice what i think is timing rattle sometimes cruising down the interstate but mostly when im accelerating and over 2000 rpms. i have heard its normal but it just sounds wrong. am i just being paranoid?

My truck started to make the same sound when it is on level 5 on PPE. I found this video and this is the sound my truck makes just not as bad!!

Listen about 1:00 through the video when he roles into the throttle after the burnout. The noise sounds like rods but it is spark knock right?
