ok, here is how i get it to do it. get in your truck with the engine off, turn the key over to where you would start it, and turn it back. if you go back and forth and listen, it makes an odd sound, almost like water rushing if i remember right. it has to go back and forth between accessory and the point right before you would start it. i hope i'm explaining this right.

i dont know what that means or what it would sound like, sorry. it happens everytime and nothing is wrong so i assume it's ok? i just dont want to be ignoring the warning signs of a soon-to-come problem.

I know on the PS at work it is the glow plugs, but I haven't heard the same sound from mine. The only sound that I can recall is the guages and the fan blower starting. (climate control fan)

It's the AC unit's valves opening. Don't worry about it.

The noise you are hearing is normal and caused by a stepper motor. This is used to move the speedometer needle instead of the traditional magnetic air core gauge. If you watch the needle increment, it will appear to move in small jerks instead of a completely smooth sweep. This is a result of the stepper motor being commanded to change needle position.:Nothing_f
