as for all this bad mileage i have been reading lately i did my test this am

just left this morning to pick up daughter up for the holidays, drove over to the card lock filled to the top of the fuel cap, turned on the lp and drove with the high westers tune to leftbrige to pick her up, strong head wind today going up, flags at full mask, then drove directly back to the same cardlock, speed was set on cruise to 120km/hr or 75mph, rpm just above 2000 rpm, filled to the top once again, mileage was 321km or 200miles, taken with garman gps, took 35.9 liters or 7.9 gallons cdn, or in us gallons that would be 9.5us gallons

this works out to 25.3mpg cdn or 21mpg us:exactly:

this is done with 95 percent hiway, 5 percent city, passed about a dozen vehicles in total at about 2degress c or 34f, slowed down for about 10 towns in total

my dic showed 12.4l/100km or 22.8mpg cdn or 19.0mpg us

keep in mind this is running the powershot 2000 propane system, i go threw about 25 liters of lp(15dollars cdn) every 1000 miles, and also running winter fuel

did have surging of boost with lp on after passing vehicles on cruse control, will have to look into

so please let have no bashing, or your full of bs, statements, this is what it was, thanks fred

Fred,

What was the issue you had with the cruise control?

Did it hold the speed or did it hunt?

Thanks

Although I haven't been getting quite that mileage on winter fuel here in mid-Michigan, I think I could get close...now. My truck has been able to get between 20 and 21 on straight highway driving on summer fuel, with mixed driving getting 16-18 (depending on how much foot I put into it). Winter fuel has always dropped me 1-2 MPG. A few weeks ago, I found out that a BP station near me was carrying their Diesel Supreme, which I've started using. My mileage is now right up to where it's always been with summer fuel in mixed driving. I haven't had a chance to check it on a straight highway driving yet and with spring starting to hit around here, I might not know for sure until they switch to winter blend next year. The truck seems more responsive and smoother and I'm guessing that my injectors will thank me for the better fuel.

I believe! Oh, yes! I believe. Gotten close to that on mine, w/o propane.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/beerchug.gif

Those numbers seem reasonable with the propane assist. On summer fuel, a long drive, light foot and <75MPH, I can get close to 20. Have seem 22 when driving 60-65 on back roads in AZ.

I also noticed my work commute MPG stays pretty good until the temps drop below 20. At that point I think it's taking most of my 20 mile commute for the engine to warm up and my MPG drops to 16 or so. Otherwise I'm in the 17-18MPG range.

I get about the same with the VA on kill and the propane on.:ro)

I guess the diesel pumps over there in the panhandle read in liters and accept canadian dollars, EH?

my issue was that when i was up to speed all was ok no problems, but if i passed someone, or slowed down and hit the reset on cruise, it would start to hunt and never got any better with the westers tune, treid it with the larger stack, and it was even worse, major hunt, need to figure a way out that prevents this, like an orfice on the boost line to the powershot or something

keith, if you read this do you have any ideas, i will try in call you next week for any ideas

Fred, I will assume it did it with the propane off and we can rule out the tunes as the cause?
If so, raise the start time slighty, and it should cure it. Generally you can run a Powershot without issue with the cruise on one of the nice things about it. Did you happen to notice what the boost pressure readings were doing when you kicked it back on?

with just the tune, i had a very slight hunt, maybe a lb boost over 10 seconds, then i would turn lp on and it was fine

only after i slowed down or increased speed, then used the cruise reset, it would start to hunt(4 to 5 lbs), if i turned lp off, truck would stable itself again

boost pressure readings were between 3 to 9 lbs, after lp was on it i think drop a lb or so, egt stayed the same

now raise the start time, that is the large 1" on the bottle of the ps, screw in or out, and how much, half a turn or more, thanks kieth

The large brass nut on the top. Opposite of where the boost pressure goes in. Screw it towards the H for higher start time a very small amount, like 1/8 of inch if that. The adjustment is very sensitive. Hope it helps, let me know.

Good mileage numbers btw.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/cool2.gif
