to lazy to do a search, so who can tell me if there is any REAL benefit in changing the stock intake system and getting the AFE stage 2 or should i spend my money on something else.

the benefit is louder turbo, performance wise...no not worth the money.

for sure louder turbo, I didn't notice any fuel economy difference or cooler exhaust.

Ditto the louder turbo. Also make sure you keep it clean. I collapsed mine not cleaning it soon enough.... http://client.webshots.com/photo/224566740/224567725fmKZIn

Not yet, but I'm starting to work on something now! I didnt think that the ram air part would help a whole lot being the turbo is doing a lot of air ramming of its own... Its almost more of a cowl hood than anything, I know it lets a lot of heat out the back anyway :ro)
Thanks for the compliment also! I really like the way it looks as well.
Thanks again,
Jason

I put mine on the truck in les than 30 minutes....

The air filter is much larger than stock, as is the tube...

I thought $300 was friggin' crazy for an intake.... but I did it anyway...

FYI- AFE has two different intake pipes for LLYs. Mine has to get the notched pipe because the computer is mounted on the FR valvecover.. the first tube hit the computer...

The filter is easy to clean, but yes, it'll dirty up quickly..

Intakes, in any vehicle don't do too much for performance until the engine is really revving...

You might be better off doing a drop in K&N and exhaust.. Clearly you have the means to DIY..;)

Damn nice Chevelle.:grd:

I got louder whistle and lower egts but part of that could have been the 4" exhaust I put on around the same time.

Are any of you guys running the prefilter? I have had mine for 3 months and the filter still looks new. Just have to take the prefilter off, rinse it, let it dry, and put it back on. So far so good. I am keeping an eye on the filter, but it still looks good.

I don't think it really helps performance wise (especially on a stock truck, maybe w/ a bigger turbo?), but it does give a really nice whistle:ro)

Here's a pic of the prefilter

Yes, I'm a VERY firm believer in the wraps. It saves a lot of "gentle brushing" to get the debris out when cleaning time comes!

One thing you will find with the new PG7 filter is once it does get dirty it will NOT clean up like new....man I tried. The pre filter is a good idea, and will help keep out any water.

The new version has a black pastic tube similar to OEM. Did NOT notice any increase in performance, noise, better milage etc. Not worth the money IMHO, but I am still stock otherwise - might make a small difference with a programmer or module.
