Have a quote from a GM/Dodge Dealer for 2008s. List of $49,790 Chevrolet DM Crew cab leather, tow, etc. for $38,060. Dodge Bighorn loaded 6.7 crew cab leather list is $46,450 for $32,998. Both are 4x4 with tow packages. I think they should be discounting the Chevrolet more and the Dodge is rather close. What do you guys think?

If you want to deal with the problems of the 6.7 and the dodge be my guest...

Now that I got that out of the way :D $38k for a $49 list truck is a smokin' deal... My truck the sticker was $47 and I think at that time I only got it for like $43 out the door... I've heard of guys picking up trucks spec'd out close to mine for like $35k... so $38 for a truck that is about $3k more list than mine is a good deal...

I've heard that getting financing can be a biatch, so if you can afford it, offer cash, but at a lower price. You might be surprised at what they'll take. Still, 11k off is a nice deal.

I just picked up a d-max crew 4x4 listed for $45k and change, rebates and incentives got it down to $30k plus they took my lease back with 4 month left on it.

Bought mine about 1 month ago. Sticker was $46,759. they have me employee pricing at $40,000. After another hour and a half, they gave me coupons and dealer concessions to total $11,000. So now the price of the truck was $29,000. I traded in a 2001 Yukon with 135,000 miles and they gave me $8500 for the trade. I was out the door net of trade for $20,500.

When I bought a leftover 07.5 that I found in September List was 48,500 and I got it for 32.5 for it and they gave me 13500 for my 05 1500 gasser with about 55k miles on it. My new truck is LT2 fully loaded except leather and nav extended cab.

Good luck finding a deal and getting financing I was very lucky to get a loan in general.

if you are looking at 48k truck i personally would not think financing would be a problem, but in the state of the economy , getting money from a bank may be difficult..my .02

Go to checy web site and do there "build and price" a truck, put in a 2008 and build it, at the end you can click on "locate this vehicle" or something like that and then put in your zip and click 100 mile raduis and search the dealers invetories. If you don't find anything there pick another city or state to search.

Start here and remember to pick a 2008 model not a 2009"

I am currently mulling over trading my '01 LB7 EC LT for an '08 LMM Crew LTZ Loaded Loaded... Nav, Rear entertainment... the works.

Sticker is $54,138... Red Tag price is $42,424.

Think there will be additional discounts as we get closer to 1/1? I can't see a truck of this caliber moving too quickly.

The dealership. Tell them to break out some of those coupons if they want to make a deal. I think they are fictitious to make you feel like they are giving you something. Either way, it is money in your favor.

You guys are making me feel bad about my deal:rolleyes: Well, kinda.
Last Monday I bought an '08 LTZ 4x4 for $42K and change. It was originally stickered at $54.6K and I think I got a good deal. Not a smokin' hot deal cause the dealer never lets you leave if they aren't making a decent profit. I bought the extended warranty (first time I've ever done that but this truck has too much electrical....shi....stuff to worry about).

So I am covered bumper-to-bumper til 7 years/70,000 miles. For the way I will use it, that's just 7 years. Drivetrain to 100,000 miles. I'm happy....well kinda, I wish I could have afforded to buy it cash but oh well.

Nothing wrong with your deal, you got over 12,500 off sticker.

You would never find that price so easy if it weren't for the red tag and left over discounts, from 6,000 to 7,500 depending on when truck was built.

Talked to salesman buddy who said at these prices dealership dosen't make any money on the trucks but they do get reinbursed by GM for a fair profit. How do you think GM is losing all those billions every month.

Plus these large cash back offers are only to clear out the 08's to make room for some 09's

Salesman said they sold over 100 pickups last month because of the good deals and only have a couple of 08's left.

Has anybody been able to negotiate better deals that what is currently offered? I tried to get employee pricing but the salesman said i woul lose some rebates. My deal is pretty much complete. I went to about 4 Dealers and all were the same, they wouldnt budge on the pricing. And they only want to give me 10K for my 03 Dodge Quad Cab CTD.

I bought an '08 3500HD LT1 Crewcab, LB, 4WD, DRW, Duramax, set up for towing with a basic interior with leather seats for $31,500 in a private sale. Truck had 7500 miles on it and was a "creampuff." I don't think the bed ever had anything in it.

I sold my '99 K3500 (crewcab, 4WD, 454, LB, RhinoLiner, B&W Turnover Ball, DRW) for $5500 cash. It had 111,000 on it (more or less).

At the same time (late Nov.) I visited GMC and Chevy dealers. Nobody could even come close with a new truck and the closest used one was $4000 more than the one I was looking at (and had 14,000 miles on it).

Most of the duallies I found were "Walmart Cowboy Trucks" with lots of "bells and whistles" and sticker prices in the $55,000 range. Even with steep discounting and lots of price concessions they were still $40,000+ out the door. That's a bunch for a work truck. ;)

Trade values on my truck were pitiful.

Mine has to be both a hauler and a farm truck. Pulls the trailer nicely and it got "baptized" in manure, mud, and hay just before Christmas. :D

Yesterday I was visiting with my banker and asked him about used truck prices. We looked up my truck on two different on-line services he uses. He felt the reported prices for used trucks were sinfully inflated. He realized that it took some time for the reported sale/trade prices on used trucks to make their way into the data bases, but felt really uncomfortable loaning money on the reported numbers. I got the feeling he wasn't alone in his misgivings. That might explain some of the difficulty in getting loans.

I'm satisfied I paid about "real market" for my unit. I might have even paid a small premium, but the condition of the truck justified same. My old truck was in excellent condition in and out and I got just about what "the book" said I should.

Pride Pontiac/Chevy in Lynn MA has a 2008 CC-LB D/A with PYOs stickered @ $46+k with a $15K discount. Not sure of the trim level but it's cloth. Was on "hold" the other day, just drove by and it looks like it's back in inventory.

wow, these discounts are crazy. if they can afford to sell them for that, then why dont they sticker them at that price. id love to trade my 04 in on a new one, but i owe what id get for it. no real reason to trade.

right now is deff a great time to be a cash buyer for just about anything. how ever with the basically no percent financing it almost makes more sence to use there money....

Well I would say that the factory incentives for 0% are on certain models not big loaded trucks or loaded suburbans, usually they are used to clean out last years or stimulate interest in a product line. I would get pre-approved with your bank or CU and got to a couple of dealers, get a written price, and get what you want and don't give in there is more room to negotiate in those trucks especially now than ever...... I bought mine in OCT of 07 (08 model) I think it tagged for 52k or 54k and I walked out after 7hours for $31750.00 and there was no more give..... I looked at the time as money saved.... how much a hour do you make, that was the best "dollar avarage" I ever made like that....... food for thought.

I keep hearing how now is a great time to buy in the automotive market, but does anyone think the incentives might get even better in the near future? I heard that there is a large inventory of '09 models that are barely selling right now. What is going to happen when the 2010 models come out? Dealers are still trying to get rid of '08 models. I could be wrong, but will there not be an even greater inventory of unsold '09 models compared to the unsold '08 model inventory? I might be way off on this topic, but this was just something I was thinking about lately.

Diesel Dragon
01-23-2009, 05:49 PM
I think there might be left over inventory of 09's but the manufacturers are cutting down production because of the poor sales so there might not be as many as they had of the 08's

I am currently trying to buy a 09 listing for $39140. I offered them $31000 with my 06 CC D/M LT1 2WD, 38000 miles in trade. My trade is worth about $19500 wholesale and I owe $19,000, so it's about a wash except toward sales tax in FL. Dealer is not going for it. I want a good deal. Am I being unreasonable? I don't think I am.
