Just sold my 05 Ford 6.0.............With that being said I am looking at an 04 Dmax and ally trans. It has 133000 miles and looks to be solid and clean. The guy that had it used it on the road to haul fencing. It has air bags on it as well. Looks good and runs good. Is there anything I can check on it to make sure it is a good truck? I do not see any leaks. Tranny fluid is good. Any bad things about this year? It is an LB7. I used to have an 03 and only had an ally issue. It was under warranty though. Oh yeah it is a 4x4. Price is VERY good. It is an LS, camper mirrors, lwb, alloys, and he is asking 13500?

I miss my 03, I think it was a better built truck, better all around than my 06 ,but everyone will tell you the big problem w/ the LB7 is injectors. Do a VIN check on here that will get you some history on the truck.

As V2500HD mentioned, the injectors.
Outside of that, try and find out if the owner had a perfomance enhancer on it.
If you are happy with the looks of the truck and the price, why not?

'04 could be an LB7 or an LLY('04.5).

I would only buy an LB7 (eighth digit of the vin 1) if it was very cheap, because of possible injector issues.

I just bought an 03 with 140k on it for the same money. I had the injectors replaced under warranty shortly after buying it. Other than the injector issues, truck is great. I had to replace a pitman arm and idler arm and put tires on it, but mechanically it is sound. I wouldn't be afraid of it if it has been well kept and looks good.

Our lb7 gave us alot of problems when we first got it and we spent over $1000 at the dealer and then $265 for a lower radiator hose and engine clean because dealer routed hose wrong and it sprayed coolant all over the engin bay. Had egr fixed and the light kept coming on and I guess it fixed itself. We have had about four glowplugs go out (under warranty) in 6 months.

I bought my '04 lb7 about a year ago, and haven't had any complaints. Did the VIN check and found my injectors had already been upgraded, that helped make the decision.

There are no upgraded injectors...
The odds are very good that if they went out once they will again.
