I've read post here and other diesel sites and I'm still up in the air on this subject. I have access to a buddies flow bench and head porting supplies. I have a couple of bad heads from engines I've picked up with broken valves and such destroying the head for use. I have thought about grinding on them to see if I could pick things up any on the ports. Also have access to his balancing machine I was thinking about doing the rotating assembly when the race stuff slows down. Also been thinking about milling some off the tops of my stock pistons to reduce the comp some. What do you guys think?

Since the pistons crack quite often I'd stay away from milling stock pistons. Balancing helps any engine. Porting works. Just don't go to big or the flow speed will drop. Work on improving the flow at low lifts, that's where the biggest gains will come from with the turbo setup. Try to keep the bends in a "D" shape. Valves need more angles cut on them. Don't try to radius seats.

Peninsular diesel does head work on 6.5L heads.
