: Doing it by hand?
Bodysurfer 03-24-2005, 10:41 PM I never really calculated my MPG but lots of friends always ask me: "So, what kind of mileage to you get?" When I need to fill up, I just took the mileage on the trip meter and the amount of gallons to fill it up. Then divide and get some numbers.
So, is this a good way to determind my MPG?

ssduramax 03-24-2005, 10:55 PM thats the way i have always done it; by hand ):h , at least until i got the DIC on the wheel; now i have a predator and am back to the hand.

duramaxdiesel 03-24-2005, 10:57 PM Do you get a different number when you use your left hand? :joke:
jnieberlein 03-24-2005, 11:17 PM I keep a lil book with date/mileage/trip miles and what it took to fill it up, I can go back and figure for any given time if I so desire, I also keep track of oil changes and such in the book

SS,
There are never too many beers to have in a night(especially after your wife shows you a "white stick" with two pink lines in it when you are trying to upgrade your truck). I have made it to several tonight and I did not get home from work until 21:45.

kimagine 03-24-2005, 11:26 PM and on top of that... my milage just recently went to sh*t.

Yup! Everything goes in the book! I log all service and fill ups. Makes service intervals easier and you have proof that you took care of it when it comes time to sell. It really helps keeping track of fuel mileage changes/trends too.

DIC on my truck only show Total mileage, Trip mileage and Total hours. Is there or are there suppose to be more options?

If you have steering wheels buttons for the dic it can show instant mpg, average mph for trip, mpg for life of truck, % of oil left before change, lots of stuff..
aka108 03-25-2005, 08:28 AM Best not to worry about it. Gonna burn what its gonna burn. It all varies by how you drive and where you drive.
Thankful 03-25-2005, 09:35 AM If you have steering wheels buttons for the dic it can show instant mpg, average mph for trip, mpg for life of truck, % of oil left before change, lots of stuff..
My 2004 6.0 gas had instant mpg, life mpg, average mph for trip, but my 2005 Duramax does not show these. Does anybody's? If so how do you enable it?

No, I didnt go with the steering wheel buttons. Guess I am out?

Thankful 03-25-2005, 12:43 PM The steering wheel buttons are with the LT package. I've got them, but I don't have all of the functions that I had with the 6.0 gasser (average mph, life mpg, etc,)

coyotekid 03-25-2005, 08:50 PM The steering wheel controls might be more common or even standard with the LT package, but I have them with my LS...an extra $150 I believe?
_nar_ 03-25-2005, 11:17 PM They are standard on LT, option on LS. The 05 shows less things now than the 03-04, maybe GM just cheaped out a bit or something.
Bodysurfer-You can put them in if you want, see here:
