What tires would be the best for pulling to put on a set of 17 inch H2 Hummer rims? Thanks

If you are driving on the street with them 315-70-17 0(34.5") or 305-65-17(33") BFG All Terrains work real good. If you are strictly pulling no street use the Interco STS are the ticket in a 33-12.5-17 there is also a 35-12.5-17 but i hear it takes some ponies to turn those...

How are the STS's on the street? Just curious. how do 12.5 fit on H2's?

Thanks,

suck on the street. they are so soft and they wear terribly. wouldnt advise running on street especially if pulling with them

if you have got to drive your truck then just stick with running bfg at's on those wheels. sts's without a doubt if you're not gonna see hottop. but if you're going to florida make sure they're boggers.

bfg at's. you'll be right 80% of the time. sts's, no so much

The street will ruin theTruxus for the track.

I have one sts and i can squeeze the treads together. Pretty soft. Hoping for 3 more next pulling season.:)

one will never know....by the way, how much better can you do than first at all your local events and first in points!

sts's are soft, very soft. imo, they could wear out faster, and the tread rolls more. they, to me, see to take more power to run. i am still partial to my at's! maybe if i had money, sts's infront, at's in back:D

i ran 33-12.5-17. Mastercraft courser ct's and had good luck w/ them on my truck. they are cheaper than bfg's too!

You wont go wrong with BFG AT's are an allaround good tire. I do love the sts's except for on lime stone:mad:

What if you just drive to and from the pulls with them and drive normal on my current set?

If you are talking about your sts's then basically after awhile you'll be f--ked if you're gonna attempt to put them on the hottop. Trust me they'll wear out

What would it take to fit the 305's or the 315's on my truck. Gonna probably go with the BFG AT's.

Tony Burkhard

it takes about a day of screwing around to get them to clear on a stock truck.

Had to do a little trimming to get my 255's to fit. I would like to get a set of tires that I would put on my truck before leaving for the pulls and put the current ones back on when I get back home. How much wider would the 305's be compared to my 255"s i have now. The 255's pull nice, but i think I could go further if I had wider tires.

i run 305/50 s on a 20x10 with -12 backspace and have no rubbing with just a tad crank on t-bars, when i pulled and slammed down the front end it wasnt to bad rub wise.

Every set of BFG AT's I get wear out quicker and quicker. I was hoping the STS's would hold up on the street, but it sounds like they don't. What about the General Grabber AT 2? Very similar to the BFG and they actually have a treadwear rating.

For a tire that may see street use as well, I've had good luck w/ Dick Cepek FCIIs.

Ok, this may be a little off topic for this thread, but here goes! I just bought- well actually on sunday i am buying a set off 315.70.17 BFG ATs on H2s- will these be too big for my truck for pulling? I havent dynoed yet, but am guessing i am right around 500 rwhp- will these work for me? THANKS steven

I'm guessing you will have clearance problems. Sawzalls and sledge hammers are your new best friends. I've never seen 3:15's on an 08, but I'm sure it's possible.

I ran 315 x 75 (35'') last year with 600HP and they work good if you stay in third i think the taller tire help with the ground speed.

The pics in your garage are of the 315s? Do you have any lift kit or is that stock height- i was wandering how they are going to look on my truck- is there going to be too much rubber? THANKS Steven

so for pulling tires what is the best width for tires 305 315 285?

Talon 22
01-22-2009, 09:52 AM
wider. Huge hook differance between 285's and 315's. Huge!

Can you lower the tbars and pull with the 315's? I think I'm gonna put the 305's on my h2 rims.

Tony Burkhard
01-22-2009, 09:11 PM
you can but they will rub a little with hanging wieghts.

CurtisEmery
01-22-2009, 09:21 PM
305's would def. fit better with the t-bars lowered. And a question for Tony. Do you think my 315's with have enough bite for the mods in my sig? I have been contemplating getting a set of 35-12.50-17 STS for this upcoming season. What are your thoughts?

Tony Burkhard
01-22-2009, 09:34 PM
If you plan on only running 3rd gear, 4th gear will be a very big bit.

I run 33 12.50 17 sts with 4:10 gears, I ran 4th gear locked converter with great results.

Using 315's will be better than the 35's for several reasons, the 35's are really only like 11" tread verses the wide 315's and the 35's are almost 36", you have a better chance of getting 4th with the 315's

CurtisEmery
01-22-2009, 09:40 PM
So maybe a 33-12.50-17 would be a better choice. I have been thinking about the 4.10's too.

Well thanks Tony looks like 33's and 4.10's it is..... LOL!!!!!

By the way the Kodiak manifolds you sent me look great. Should work out really well with a few tweaks to the passenger up pipe.

Am i correct on the charger and wieghts?

dansdieselp
01-22-2009, 10:14 PM
Stock charger right now. No hanging weights at the moment. ISP won't allow hanging weights in the stock diesel class. I would like to put a cheetah in it someday. So I should get a set of 305's?

cole30
01-22-2009, 10:16 PM
why run the cheetah its stock appearing when you can run aurora 5000 and its stock witch is a bunch of bs

Tony Burkhard
01-22-2009, 10:17 PM
305's unless you get EFI live and take it to Danville and have mark tune that girl for you than it could maybe spin the 315's oh and no wieghts will help you if you go the 315 route.

Have to remember every truck runs different than the next, Hope im helping and it all works out, im just going buy the way how all the trucks i work with pull. The use of proper traction bars, suspention stops, and hitches will help in performance and of cource I sell those goodies.

dansdieselp
01-22-2009, 10:22 PM
I guess 305's it is. My truck is 7200 with me in it. I try to put 8 IH suitcase weights on the floor in the back seat and maybe one on each side under front floor mats. Lower t-bars. ISP won't allow blocks either. Springs are clamped.

u might want to read the rules on isp website for stock class in '09. and check out the new diesel class.

dansdieselp

Thats why I want to run the cheetah. I want to stay in the stock class versus modifying my truck alot to go into the stock appearing class.

9. Diesel trucks limited to one 2.6 turbo, turbo must be stock appearing. 20. Inspectors has final say on vehicle

dansdieselp
01-22-2009, 10:38 PM
Well a cheetah is stock appearing:rolleyes:, but what am I thinking. I need to save up a bit of money before I get there. Biggest consern right now is tires and lift pump. My 255's would get me to about 270ft. so I need something a little wider.

nots sure why, i think they werent as friendly to daily drive and pull with them. with the a5k, i think i should of tried them, would of lowered the rpm some too
