I have to tell this one on myself. One of my daytime running lights went out so I stopped and got a new bulb. ( $4.00 for two ). I went home to change it and popped the hood. Being a shadetree mechanic mostly doing my own service, I thought no problem to change a bulb. First off I couldn't see it and could not get my hand near it reaching down beside the battery. So I started removing stuff to get down to it. A brace, battery cables then the battery. I was there up to my elbow trying to reach the back of the bulb when my daughter, who is nine and had been watching me, says "Dad doesn't this pin remove the headlight? that would be easier wouldn't it?"
My natural response was here is $20 don't say anything about this to your mother.I felt like an idiot. But I was proud of my daughter. ):h ):h ):h

Well, she'll be able to help you in the future. plus, you might not have to worry if she ever broke down when she begins driving.
on the other hand, you may have never come across the new setup on the lights these days. which in my book, the first time, you wouldn't be stupid and it is a stepping stone. but then again, you probably could have read it in your manual.

ya got to be able to laugh at yourself. It was getting dark and didn't look before I started turning wrenches. I can live with other truck guys laughing at me but I would never hear the end of it from the wife.

If I hadn't read this thread, I wouldn't have known. So thank you for preventing me from being stupid.

I took it as your just testing your daughters automotive smarts.. Its never to early to start teaching them. I can see it when you teach her how to change a tire...man I hate to see the hole you dig to remove the flat tire...
hehehe
Of course there's always the owners manual that mentions it!

well dmaxallitech, for your information I did have to change a tire and didn't dig a hole. I put the truck up on ramps.
(daughter was already asleep)
