my truck is stock for now.. but i have some upgrades on the way..

i have been reading alot ...

and know now that if the tranny limps or how ever you say it,.. then it will need work in the future..

my question is this?

what do i do to prevent this from ever happining.. i will prolly be adding and additional 150whp and dont want to have any problems..

i have heard ppl say somthing about transgo and transgo jr.

would this help me

do you have to pull the tranny out to install this..

is it hard at all to install.

Install a full transgo and you should be safe. That is what I did and haven't limped the tranny since. If funds allow, it would be a good time to up grade the torque converter also. I didn't have the funds at the time so I am still running the stock converter. Installation requires removal of the tranny and patial disassembly. If you aren't good with A/t's, remove the tranny and take it to a good tranny shop and have them install the kit and inspect the clutches.

you can get a van aaekn smart box, i have one and it will not limp a stock trans, it has safeguards, otherwise there is nothign that will help the trans except getting it built right, if you upgrade torqe converter then your clutches are still weak, if you add shift kit well that does nothing but puts a little more line pressure to the clutches. if you want to do it right call ats..and send them your trans, or call randy hart in moultrie ga

Some people get away with more than others as far as power adders. With a 150rwhp tune, I think you're going to need more than a just a full transgo, but im no expert. spend some time reading and searching on the aftermarket allison section, you'll learn a lot. I read a lot but never post there. Id say take it easy for a while and save some money. Since you have to pull the tranny to do the transgo, I'd just do it all right one time, instead of having to pull it out again. If you read from some of the people that have done the job, it is a pain in the arse to pull it out and time consuming. Id say get ATLEAST a suncoast III or ATS of equal holding power, everyone that has them says good things about both brands so you cant go wrong either way. Search the Mike L. budget kit....Where are you located? maybe there's someone close by that can do the build for you. Like I said....scroll down to the aftermarket allison section........good reading

"Trans protection", even Banks, just sets the slip detection threshold low enough that it doesn't set a code and limp before the tuner cuts power. The trans is still slipping, just not setting a code. Do a full built trans and aftermarket tq, or stay at adding 65hp.

brother in law put an ats pump kit, converter, and co-pilot . Been that way for the past 50000 miles and he runs the crap out of it. Its also putting down well over 500 hp on the ground.

Like they told me last year.. Save your money and buy a Suncoast.. It's not sexy but the sexy comes later...

Thank God my year is up... Next month, stage V
