over the last month i have had my injectors placed but are still having hard starting, stumbling and white smoke till the engine is warmed up, then all is fine
after calling eric(thanks again) he gave myself a few pointers to check out, as for codes, i was getting a code, cannot remember what it was, like 0549, or something, i had checked it out and it was something with low intake current or something like that, had ignored because i had the intake heater plug out, but in the last week i installed the intake heater plug and am still getting the hard start and smoke(like a non glowplug diesel)
to day i put a 12volt tester to the glow plug controller(on top of the drivers valve cover at the firewall), there is three post from what i can tell, a red wire post that has power all the time, then the post clossest to the firewall, whitch has power only when i turn on the key and then after 5 seconds it goes out, and the last post whitch is under the red post, now this post has no power going to it, and does not come on when the key is first turned on
is this proper for that post to have nopower, post that offers power to the other set of glow plugs on the passenger side
i also see that the intake heater plug has no power going to it right after the key is turned on, is that normal( the engine is cold but not real cold)
i phoned the dealer and ordered a controller, will be 5 days he said, but would like to see your info on this, also looks like all glowplugs fittings are ok and all conections are normal, can glowplugs go bad, how does one check that out, can maybe just a fuse or relay be gone, funny how it just happened after the injector change, thanks fred:cool:
