Today I pulled out my air filter and there was large grasshopper body parts up against the MAF screen. To say the least I am not very impressed with AFE right now.

The filter does not seal up tight against the housing.

You may want to pull it off to double check it. It sucks you cannot see all around the filter to make sure it is sealing properly.

Mine fits fine too, takes a little wiggling and twisting to get the filter around the metal ohousing, but when its flush it looks pretty clear that its on?

I am doing an "outerwear" its typically used at the sand dunes. I just bought it. I hear it does not restrict air, but it is another layer of protection for large particles. It also makes for easy cleaning, the big stuff can't get between the ribs. I am hearing a buch of good stuff about this pre-filter and cleanings going much easier??

Metal housing ? Vans are totally different from trucks.

Ok I took some foam tape (used for sealing windows and doors) around the housing where the filter fits flat. Hopefully that cures it. Then I took off the air box that housed the filter minder. That should help with cooling in the Summer.

did you see that van hood thread I started? I was thinking about having a ram-air hood made, to help force air towards the filter and help engine cooling. You got any thoughts on that? I've got another, simple idea to help cool the engine too. If I can find the pieces I'll post pics.

I thought about having louvers punched in the hood. But honestly I am not seeing the engine temps that you guys have been seeing.
