Need some help!

With my previous truck (excursion PSD) I had an option to install an extra
tranny cooler (electric fan+radiator). Back than I had a smaller trailer and did not need it.

Now I have a 04 3500 with the lly AND a 40ft enclosed trailer (and a heavy foot) and now the tranny gets nice and warm.
I never seen a thread on a extra tranny cooler?

Are they availabe (or needed in your opinion?). Specially because I am looking to install a edge/juice combination.

Thanks for any info

Mike L. ARE YOU LISTENING??????????????????????

Do a search on cooler and you will find that Mike L is designing one. There have been some rumors that he may even be building one.

I am not sure how long Mike L has been pregnant with this project, but hopefully he will give birth SOON..............

sander,

We get 25-30 degrees extra/addittional cooling by adding a PML high capacity cast aluminum trans pan. Might be an alternative to changing the cooler unless you are planning VERY heavy mods and plan to tow real heavy too! Check them on our site if you want, www.dieselperformanceparts.com

Thanks guys

logical solution so far is the extra cap. oil pan.

I was hoping that there would be a extra cooler available that you just bolt on the frame that has a radiator and electric fan. (Is avail. for the Fords).

Thanks again

I don't think you should be making false statements like this. You will not get any temperature drop with anybodys pan. Yes it is nice having 3 extra quarts in the sump but it will not effectively cool any better.

I dont think an aluminum pan will drop the temps by 25-30*. JMO. I noticed no drop in temp with mine but I didnt get a bling bling $$$$ aluminum ones. I just got the deep steel allison pan from www.gmdieseltech.com More fluid is a good thing IMO. I also am running mobil 1 syn ATF. Might be something to look at(syn) if you are constantly running warm.

I did my own replacement of the OEM cooler, but if Mike L. has his kit, I would go that route.

Adding extra capacity to the system will not lower the temperature. It may take it longer to get to the peak temp, but it will still get just as warm. I'm not sure how much cooling effect the finned aluminum pan can produce - I'm skeptical.
