When was changing the alternator on my '95 last week, I dropped a wrench and it hung up in the steering linkages behind the front bumper, when I went under to retrieve it, I notice a new oil leak. On the lower right side of the block, near the front, there is a fourbolt flange with a short section of steel line welded to it, then a short rubber hose (3-4"), then to another steel line headed back toward the rear of the engine. That rubber spice is fastened with hose clamps and it is leaking. I believe is is the oil line to or from the turbo?? Is this a common problem? Can I just tighten the clamps or should I replace the rubber hose? The truck is due for an oil change so I could do it then.
On a seperate but related oil leak theme, how can you keep the oil drain plug from leaking? I have tried o rings, gaskets etc but it always drips a spot on the garage floor - this is why I never noticed the new leak right away.
Thanks
Shawn

Yeah, that location is the turbo oil drain plate and tube. I seriously doubt that the plate is leaking, it's usually always the hose connection. On mine all I had to do is loosen the hose clamps and properly center the rubber hose on the two metal connections, the plate and the tube from the turbo. I found that the hose wan't that tight and that during assembly they missed the metal hose under the rubber, so the clamp was just squeezing the rubber. Somewhat easy fix, messy, and in a fun location!

On the oil plug seal, I have the SAME problem, although I haven't bothered to fix it, it always leaks 1k after an oil change. I'll change the seal with one of those plastic looking seals for oil plugs when I yank the engine soon.
