Guys what do you all have that has majorly upped your MPG and made your ride have a lot more gitty up?

I was wanting to maybe do a Heath chip and some type of exaust but Im on a tight budget. Any body have some ideas for me that they have tried and where to get them from? I would love to get this thing looking great but I would prefer it to run great first!!

First get gauges, then you know where you're at. My next up grade would be the exhaust, it really woke my truck up, south of the 49th parallel you have a lot of options on brands. North, go with Warpspeed, it's the best price. Heath is probably the best chip. Also you have a 94 so look at www.enghmotors.com for a program to connect to the trucks computor. Leo

check my signature line.
Can't brag about fuel economy, but this sucker runs!
Oh yeah, and on commercial B100 I get about 14mpg city.

Depending on how long you've owned it, it might need a tune up. Deffinately get gauges. Even cheap ones. Make sure you've got vacuum at the turbo (otherwise: it no work so good). If its got more than 100K, think about injectors. Your timing might be WAY out of whack too! (meybe not) So befriend someone with a scanner. With winter upon us soon, how are your glow plugs? Anti freeze condition? It would suck to spend all kinds of $ only to crack a block because you were only rated to 32*.

power costs money. from what i understand the engines of today generate more power with the same amount of fuel than from engines of years ago. opening up the exhaust doesn't use more fuel but does make the engine more efficient for the same fuel so does give more power. a ecm or chip upgrade will give you some serious bang for the buck, but it means more fuel to make that much more power. a t/m will help as well. best to read some of our sigs and it'll give you an idea of upgrade ability. my next option will be an i/c and i'm about done till i go 18-1's. only so much you can do with the IDI's. with my upgrades i can run with a stock early d-max and possibly embarass them too. There are several type of upgrades, reliability, efficiency and power.

Reliability are upgrades like PMD outside the engine, LP/OPS Relay, new GP, new Injector, new Fuel filter, pre-LP fuel filter, new LP (from 93 or Heath), oil line replacement (if needed, prone to leaking), Gauges (Boost, EGT).

Efficiency are upgrades like exhaust (DP and exhaust), Mechanical Wastegate (Turbomaster), Round air intake or cone, exhaust x-over. This yield some minor power improvement due to efficiency.

Power are upgrades like new ECM (Chips) like Heath, Marine Injector (may be in conjunction to Chips), Turbo (from the other forum), Compression Ratio, Intercooler.

I may have missed something. The category is based on my opinion, some others may have differing opinion.

Unfortunately, all of these cost money.

cool this is exactly the feed back i was needing. Does anyone have a high idle kit? I may be able to use something like that for my car audio competions and also as a temp fix for the voltage issue I think I may have finally figured out.

Also what are the known chips I can get and which are the best in your minds?

Heath is really the only one I know of???

Your budget must not be too tight if you can afford audio competitions :D

Sell that crap and invest it in upgrading your 6.5.

You have a NEW hobby now.;)
