quick question on the high idle feature....... my new 05 has it on the dic , we have a 02 just wondering , if you can let me know if i can activate it , thru the key switch or brake or something else ....... let mw know thanx the05hd

The 01-04's did not come with it from the factory but you can hook it up yourself as many including myself have done by tapping into the ECM under the hood and wiring it into your brake switch, or a seperate on/off toggle switch.

Do a search of "high idle" and you will have pages of material and the instruction's on how to do it too.

I'm pretty sure dmaxallitech sell's a kit with the parts needed and instruction's too.

Be careful, I think the kit that he has is for an LB7 unless he has added another kit to his site.

Are you talking about PTO high idle or the Cold Weather high idle?

Cold weather high idle is activated by a code tapped in using the brake pedal? I't in the manual.. mine is a 04.5 lly and I have high idle when the engine is cold and the temp is below 32deg.

its a 02 with a lb7 of coarse , im looking for the way to set the cold weather idle on this truck ??? no owners manual gone , lost , no one seem to know about it !!

It's a cold weather high idle. Not the anytime-anyplace PTO high idle.

The DIC can be used to enable or disable it.

cit1991, they are talking about a 02 LB7, which did not come with the option to activate the high idle on the DIC IIRC

I have an 05 lly and till today I'm not sure what the high idle thing is used for..I am scared of activating it!

my 05 has the high idle on the steering wheel. go to vehicle settings scroll through until you get to "high idle" then press arrow button

On my lly, it's for faster warmup's in winter.. if the temp is below 32deg and the engine temp is low/cold and the trans is in park, it will high idle till the engine reaches operating temp, or untill, brake pedal is depresed or trans is placed in drive.
