Does anybody have any tips to keep the diesel spill (foam) from spilling after the tank becomes full? Most nozzles' auto shut off simply isn't quick enough.

The only times that I get spillage is when I try to top off the tank, especially with one of the "go fast" nozzles at a truck stop.

Are you placing the pump nozzle all the way down in the filler neck? If so, I can't imagine how the automatic shutoff does not activate well before the fuel overflows.

Yep, I've got the nozzle all the way into the tank opening. (The nozzle's rubber guard rests against the tank opening well.) I usually allow the clip to allow the fuel flow (lowest clip setting) to be constant so I don't have to constantly hold it. I may start watching it more carefully, and manually deliver the fuel flow at a much slower rate. I can't stand to spill any of that expensive stuff.

My 62 Gallon Supertank is like an atomic bomb, it lets me know with about 1/10th of a gallon of fuel spewing out and i do mean projectile, kinda like ocean breeze that stays with you.. I wish they made some kind of anti foam additive that didn't screw up the engine. It takes me at least 10 minutes to squeez the last 10 gallons in.

Squeeze, burp-:t , fuel everywhere, squeeze, burp-:t , fuel everywhere, squeeze, burp-:t , fuel everywhere, squeeze, burp-:t , fuel everywhere. It is embaressing and costly, but the extra fuel is very helpfull and convenient when towing.

I remember the first time i used the big diesel pump. Figured it would shut off when full. It did but shot bout a 1/4 gallon up in the air. Thankfully i was not anywhere close to the nozzle.

I've never had this happen yet.. it always shuts off when the level gets right to the filler neck. never had any thing spew out. My old gasser would do it all the time. I think the difference in sizes of the spout and opening make a difference for air to push out as the fuel is coming in.

I used a "big pump" once and it shot fuel all over the side of the truck. I don't think there's anyway around it, at least not with the factory filler neck.

Mine does this too. When I fuel up, I look at the used-fuel number and drop the handle-lock to low when the pump gets near the used-fuel value.

When I need to fill-up, I just check the DIC for the gallons use and fill it fast to that point and then slow fill to minimize foaming and spillage.
