i get on this site everyday and i look over very thing dealing with the LLY trucks. the biggest thing i have seen is this...people are putting these 100 and 120HP tunes on their truck and limping the stock tranny and everyone is always saying never put a 60HP on a stock tranny...now i may be pushin my luck on so knock on wood, but i always run a 160HP tune and i have never ever limped, slipped, or blown up my tranny and i have took it down the track a few times and hooked to the sled once and im always up for playing with someone on the interstate...why is it my tranny is holding up longer than other peoples?

P.S.- to everyone who has fried their tranny, i hope yall got it fixed and are rolling coal once again!

Have you dyno'd that 160HP tune? My guess is that it's no where near that at the wheels.

The 80HP rule is at the rear wheels. Driving style can also affect how long a tranny lives.

Ive been running Nick`s Tow Tune and Race Tune for a year now. I admit i have slipped it a few time but only while towing with the Race Tune. And Im not afraid to pour the fuel too it. But with saying that Ill probily pull out on the road today and weld the guts together.

I thought i had a invincible tranny aswell but when it started to limp it would do it extremely easy. You can see in my signature what it took to cure the problem.

I ran a bastard stack on my 02 for months. Daily driving with Quad at 215 and Edge on 5, no joke. Beat it up often, but was careful on the 4-5 shift. Limped it once 4-5 and that's it. Obviously I put a toll on the stock trans, but I sure as hell didn't demolish it like I figured I would. It had an aftermarket warranty on it and I have a trans guy that's a buddie of mine. I planned to destroy it and couldn't with my routine that's for sure! When I offed the truck, the fluid was dark, but it shifted great.

I had a freak trans too for a while. That is until I started messing around with EFI live and likeing 4x4 lauches...:D

IMO, the stock clutches are really good...they may not hold as much causing limp, but they can take some abuse and multiple limps. Wheras aftermarket packs can take more of a beating but once you slip those and limp it they go down hill much quicker than stockers.

We had a bastard stack on a buddies 03 for about two weeks and fried it. You had to get up to 50-50 and then let out on the throttle for it to shift to 5th. Its got purple in it now and runs great;)

A stack was the early way of making bigger power before custom tuning or big tuners. You'd run 2 types of programmers/tuners that focus on different things. The Quadzilla 215hp and The Edge Juice with Attitude turned out to be a badass combination and was known as the "Bastard stack".

My stock trans was fine with edge and preadtor. It was untill i got the ppe hot. She got pissed after that and we had to rebuild her. Jeff
