Have a 1997 7.3 DIT with about 150,000 miles. Lately when holding the gas pedal steady at a low rpm (maybe 30 - 40 mph) or when slowly accelerating I can feel the engine surge as if the fuel pressure was increased and decreased at different times. Sometimes it runs smooth and others it sounds like it might want to stall. When at an idle it seems to run smoothly. I frequently use fuel treatment and filter has been replaced. Any hints, suggestion, etc...?

have you checked throttle sensor?

I have not checked it. Where can I find it and is there a test that I can do to see if it's working properly?

I have a similar problem on my '96 psd with 134k miles. I can't actually feel the surging, but can hear it with the radio turned off. I just changed fuel filter also. I am curious to hear a solution as well.

You need it scaned checked for codes and a look at all the sensors through the scan tool. That would show something when checked.
