In our area a fcim is a very RARE failure, I haven't replaced many at all, Make sure there is no chafed wires causing it!!...use caution....

It's either the ECM, FICM, Or wiring.

My guess would be a chaffing wire OR loose wiring on top of the injector.

The affected cylinder is number 4. Thats the driver side second one from the fan. Check the wiring from the FICM to that injector connector.

If nothing is found you can remove the driver side valve cover and check to make sure the 7mm nuts on top of the injectors are snug.

ok well my dealership keeps saying to change the ficm out....i guess i will im buying a used one off a guy on the forum but does anyone else know what it could be to make it throw the p1232 code and have on and off power and bad idle?the check engine and poor perfomence is really lasting now and it is not going away so i guess i should replace the ficm unless u guys think its something else?thanks alot

Can you describe the problem a little more? I had a C4500 come in on the hook last week dead as a door nail. Come to find out the FICM wasn't communicating due to a blown fuse. Come to find out the FICM Ignition 1 voltage wire to connector C1 has rubbed on the harness bracket where it runs across to the FICM. I checked on my dads 02 LB7 and there was pretty severe rubbage going on but no issues yet so we rapped the harness in hose and zip tied it up good before anything happens.

I was having the same problem with my '04 and I just swapped out the ficm with one from one of my spare motors and now it's fine.

they said they chcked all the connections as well but i am unsure the symptoms are kinda permantant now.but symptoms are when the check engine light is on are the following ( code p1232,rough idle and choppy shaky acceleration, sounds liek its running and misfiring in idle, blows smoke blue and white a bit not to bad,and just sounds bad lol) these symptoms were on and off but are now staying and not realyl going back to normal, the dealership said that the ficm is most likly shutting down some cylinders and thats why i get all these symptoms
