Some pulling associations are requireing a trans blanket to be run. I notice most of the rules require at least a 4.1 spec and some require a 4.2 spec.

I am just gathering info on the interest in a custom made blanket to fit the Allison bell housing. This will be cutout around the spin on filter and the lines and be an exact fit.

I am having a unit made now, but if interest is there, I will have a few units run off. Volume will lower the pricing as with anything. Post here if interest shown.

Is this to keep the track from getting contaminated with parts and fluid if the tranny blows? I'm sure this is a dumb question but I've never heard of a blanket for the tranny.

I think its targeted at the handshakers, but for simplicity, they enforce it for all.. You dont want a spinning converter or flywheel to come apart and rub your ankles..

I don't think that is what's going to come apart in the Ally at 4500 rpm.

Very serious. We arnt talking about a nice quilt to keep your trany warm and happy We are talking about something to keep chunks of your trans from coming through the floorpan and trough your feet/legs/skull.

Would the Allison really explode into pieces?

Any tranny can explode when pushed enough. I've seen it several times in truck pullin and it isn't pretty!!!

Although I highly doubt we will see a allison come apart anytime soon. Like stated before it's more for the manual trannys when the flywheels explode and take everything else with it, but to keep it easy they require everyone to run them in certain classes.
