: 06 2500 question
c-bad 11-25-2008, 06:39 PM i went and test drove an 06 chevy 2500 ccsb. it had 22000 miles on it and a 6'' fabtech lift with 33'' bfg m/t. it was very clean. do you think it is worth 22000$? and i saw a hypertech programer in the console, will the programer and the lift void the warranty? thanks for the imput guys.
c-bad 11-27-2008, 06:33 PM does anyone have any help?
GetSome8.1HD 11-27-2008, 09:04 PM Which motor? I do believe unless the lift was factory the suspension will not be under warranty. I also think that price is ok. Not the best given the market. Ive seen diesels all day for that with under 100,000 miles. Programmer wont void if you take it off before service. Look it up in nadaguides.com and kbb.com .
robbieyukon 11-27-2008, 10:17 PM That is too much money IMO. The truck is 3yrs old and has a lift and a programer. It probably has been subjected to lots of fun. Offer less, like $18,000. The owner will make a deal, times are tough.
finch 11-27-2008, 10:48 PM if it's a dealer just laugh and walk away, they're crazy for asking that.
if it's a private seller, do the same... EVERY person that drives a truck in this country knows what's going on with the market, and if they don't, they'll be trying to sell that truck for a long, long time.
John DiMartino 11-28-2008, 12:51 AM Used truck with a lift kit is worth much less than a stock one. Also you still haven't said what powertrain, but if its a 6.0 gasser,it will be working hard turning those tall tires, and pushing the extra height thru the wind.Id avoid it if it were me,just due to the lift kit.Yes,the lift and programmer can void the warranty on parts they affect.Example, the motor goes, and you have the rev limiter increased with programmer, warranty gone. A/C compressor goes out, shoud still be warrantied, but even then they could argue it.

That is way too much I think. Like stated earlier, modifying a truck actually decreases it's value. That doesn't mean the seller can't get some return if waiting for the right buyer, but this is too much.
For reference, I bought an 05 6.0 in Sept for 10,900 with 60K miles and sold it a month later for 12,500. Either way, you could do a heck of a lift and wheels/tires for 10 G's. If it was a diesel his asking would be reasonable.
c-bad 11-28-2008, 04:34 PM its a 6.0. ill wait for the price to drop or go make an offer. i almost bought it until i went to autotrader and there allot cheaper. i guess since there is the employee pricing i could just get a new 1500 for 22k.

You sure could. Also you dont want a lifted truck, they look cool, but thats about it.Getting in ,and out is a pain,as is using the bed,and fitting in 7 ft parking structures, and your normal 7ft high garage door become impossible. If you need to go off road, buy an ATV and put it in the bed,it will be cheaper than lifting and wheel/tires.Also the ATV will take off roading much better than your truck.Fuel usage of ATV and truck will be less than the truck lifted,as will maintenance and repair cost increases.Increased braking distance, accelerated brake pad wear, lost towing power, and reduced overall power from tall tires on lifted trucks, esp gassers, lost warranty etc.
c-bad 11-29-2008, 09:15 PM i never thought of that but i have to agree. i have a lifted yukon and the girls hate it cause they cant get in it.

you make very good points. but it all comes down to what you want and what your willing to spend. i spend more time jus driving my truck then using it as a truck. and if i go sledding or quading theres a few of us so i have a trailer behind. box is damn near a virgin! theres days i curse my lift and 38s, but then the next i swear ill own it forever
c-bad 12-04-2008, 10:28 PM ya i know what you mean. the girls can barley climb in it. i can uderstand a 4-6'' lift but he does got a point, why not just ragg your 4-wheeler instead of your truck? i know i can afford 4-wheeler parst over my truck parts any day. i have a 2000 325 polaris and it hasn't stop running ever since i got it, i cant say the same thing about my truck:(.
