GMC5500 03-23-2005, 08:37 PM Could You Tell Me The Web Site For Outlaw. Im Interested In A Set Of Wheels
Joey D 03-23-2005, 10:57 PM I would say get the 4x4 if you need it. Muddy fields or farm land will need it. If it's running up and down the roads only skip it. My local dealer has a 4x4 or 2 if you realy want one and don't want to wait.
chtucker 03-23-2005, 11:18 PM hello guys my naME is Ray, im 17 i live in miami,fl in a small 10acre farm.. i have a silverado ss yes the 6.0 gas guzzzler..i average 9-12.5 mpg thats sucks but my parents are starting to buy and sell horses so we got a little 4horse trailer and with just the trailer alone i get 5-6 mpg...so i asked my parents for a new truck :D but i told them i wanted the baddest truck around the c4500 they agreed because graduation is just around the corner so we went to the truck max a commercial truck dealer they have a few c4500 with the pickup beds in them well i agreed on a 4500 and test drove a 4x2 with leather air ride seats...it also had a nice train horn....it was gr8t in miami there are only 3 people with the c4500/5500 so i will be # 4....no the sales man said he can get it in 4x4 but i have to wh8t 3 months so should i just get the 4x2 or is the 4x4 alot better ohh...almost forgot the dealer is getting me a tunner because i told him it was to slow...compared to my ss.. and i want the 24.5 truck wheels out law diesel sells the kit for $5,500...what should i do?
This is not a flame...
BUT WTH... it is work truck, you don't need 24.5 wheels. The 19.5s are all you will need, they meet the load rating of the truck. The 4500 comes with Fs and the 5500s come with Gs. Doesn't seem smart to replace $1500 in wheels and tires (at least) with something else.
If you are going to tow 4 horses you are going to need a CDL. Might want to want to look into the possibility that being 17 (<21) you might not be able to get one.
The 4500/5500 are not daily drivers and you should not expect it to be one. Even with the DMAX I only get 11mpg in my lightweight 5500 4x4.
My true suggestion is to ask your parents pay for some education with the 50k they are willing to spend on the truck. A truck will last you 8-10 years, education lasts a lifetime.
05c4500 03-24-2005, 12:23 AM okay first outlaws diesel's number is 305-470-4664
second you have to be 18 to get a class a cdl which is tractor with no trailer and you cant leave the state.. and school is paid for its virgina tech...
3rd im only gonna tow horses about once or maybe twice a month the stock wheels look tiny under there and that huge gap between the fender and the top of the tires...ugly so 24.5s will look alot nicer..
tomorro we are gong to the dealer miki at truck max said he found a 4x4 but its 2 doors i was like no, so im going to give a deposite and order a 4x4 in black with air ride suspension and black leather seats. so hopefully guys i will be posting picks of the truck sonner than later....o has anybody got pass the speed limiter...
05c4500 03-24-2005, 12:24 AM joey d does the dealer by you have it with Air ride suspension
05c4500 03-24-2005, 12:31 AM o almost forgot tomorro there going to let me test drive a c5500 they have there that is used it has a 95hp chip, with exhaust ....i think its time for a burnout..lol
chtucker 03-24-2005, 10:36 AM http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/shake.gif...........
skoryaro2 03-24-2005, 10:59 AM All I can add is...........HOLY S***! When I was 17 I was glad when my rusted out Chevy Nova started on the first try. Good luck with the truck (I hope my kids don't see your post :))
03 Radio Flyer 03-24-2005, 11:32 AM I'm with you Skoryaro2,
My 1st was a 66 Impala SS convertible, which was handed down to me under the conditions that it would be used in the school's auto mechanic's shop as a teaching tool for the whole year. I did get a rebuilt engine, recovered interior, fixed pings an dents, repainted, new rag-top, dual Thrush headers and pipes, dual Holley 750's, 3/4 Race Cam, new heater core and high capacity radiator, and other ammenities out of it a month before graduation. Great experience, but at 17, it was a loooooooooooong wait before I could even drive it. Unfortunately, I did not have it long, joined the service and they sold it for scrap while I was in Italy.
05c4500,
If your concerned over fuel mileage, the 4x4's 5.13:1 differential ratio and all terrain tire choices will not give you what you want. Raising the speed limiter would put your RPM's above the "economy" sweet spot, so don't expect much improvement over what you already get per gallon of fuel. There is also a matter of max speed ratings on on/off road tires, which is in great part, why the engine governors are set where they are.
CH, we use our truck as a daily driver. Its no more inconvenient than the CC/Dually 1-Ton 2x4 or the 3/4-Ton 4x4's we had in the past. The ride is a bit rougher (sic), but the wheel cut makes it just as easy to park/maneuver as the LT's. If the 4500 will be for Farm Use, then licensing may be different (don't know about FL, but in most states there are separate licensing and plating regulations for farm use equipment).

chtucker 03-24-2005, 11:43 AM Fuel mileage and parking where what I considered when saying it was not a daily driver. It is more easier to get around around stuff than my 01' Ford 7.3 excursion. If you ordered 4x4 because you need it, you are going to keep the stock goodyears on. They are great in the slippery stuff (mud and snow tested so far)...
05c4500 03-24-2005, 06:14 PM radio flyer my first car was a 95 impala ss
i still got it tho but i gt the motor pulled out of it, its going to be my race car...lol
thats why i dont want a 2500 because i will start adding performance parts like crazy and not have a dialy drive again....
95 lt1
ported polished heads/matching intake
comp cam 305
poweryne 6# supercharger
i think 36# injectors-not sure
and custom built tranny from kelly chevrolets race shop
...should be fun when im done with it..... onlt time will tell
Scott C 03-25-2005, 09:10 AM Sounds like you need a 3500HD D/A IMO. The 4500 is just going to be a trophy piece it sounds like. Those 24.5 wheels will do damage to your driveline long term! Good luck parking that thing in a student parking lot at school. It will be fun at first but seems that after a while you would be more happy with a 3500 for driving around town. Just my 2 cents. If your parents are gonna split with that kinda jack for your new rig, you sound like a lucky kid. TAKE ADVANTAGE!!
Rockin 03-25-2005, 10:24 AM SPOILED!!!
Our 16 yr old got hit ( not her fault :) ) and didn't have wheels for a week. She is starting to appreciate the 94 Nissan Sentra she is privledged to drive.
On topic: I bought 4x4 and have still gotten it stuck twice. In a LT, it is far better for resale, especially in the NW. I don't understand why you would buy a 4500 for a 4 horse. 2500HD will pull a 4 horse trailer with ease.
chtucker 03-25-2005, 12:29 PM I am 34 and my daily driver is a 93 Toyota Tercel basic (4spd no air 2dr). The Excursion is the wife/kids/dogs, but I usually drive my wife to work anyways with diesel being $2.40 a gallon here. The 5500 only moves if it is snowing and the 1977 Bronco only goes out for parades/sunday drives.
I am truly looking for a scooter/moped to get to work with gas prices being what they are. I work 48hrs on 96hrs off so it won't be to bad.
Bodysurfer 03-25-2005, 12:36 PM Do it right the first time....go 4X4. If you want 2X4 then dont push the 4X4 button. If you get the 2X4, there will be a time when you kick yourself in the Censored and wish you got the 4X4.
LATER!
techprof1 03-26-2005, 02:38 PM 05C4500,
Here is my two cents....Go with the 4x4. The truck is a heavy truck and will get stuck. Mileage on my rig is about 9-10 going 67 no trailer. Towing about 8.5-9 mpg. I exceed 26k gross vehicle weight. As for the tires....not sure if you are talking larger diameter or just larger rims with lower profile tires....You don't have much clearance in the front when on a sharp turn. The tires are really close to the front springs. The aluminum alcoa rims look nice. They'll grow on you. I agree with the earlier post...save your money for school or whatever life brings....and for diesel  !

05c4500 03-26-2005, 03:53 PM thanx aolt guys!!! since im already getting the 4x4 ima gonna order it also with airride suspension---

05c4500 03-26-2005, 03:56 PM ohh but the diesel had a color i think it it was red or green dont remember??? my step dad said if you get pulled over with that diesel in a commercial truck it wont be good/// it was agriculur(yes i know i cant spell.lol) diesel

dieseljockey 04-05-2005, 07:28 PM No thanks. Nothing against the military, just spent the last 18 months in school. And yes, I got the little piece of paper that says "I R SMRT" Them big Med. Duty trucks are pretty cool, but I'd have no use for one. I only haul our horses 2 or three at a time, and I'd like to be able to use the vehicle more often than just when I'm pulling. Can't throw much firewood on the hind end of one of those things.
mud guts 05-08-2005, 01:27 AM I cannot believe no one has mentioned this yet....here it goes....I may catch much agnst for this.....but the truth hurts...
you spoiled puke.....go out and earn it...better yet go to college and provide society with a well rounded, responsible human being...
your parents should be ashamed of themselves...
I am not aware of your situation, however on the face of your question, this is not the way I would want my children to think / act...
best of luck in life... :offtopic:
01Duramax6spd 06-06-2005, 10:53 PM Forget 24.5"s. Go with some nice 20"s and get some 36"x13.50"x20" Iroc's or some 37"x13.50"x20" mud grappler's so you can wheel it as well as fill those wheel wells up.Would be 1 of a kind.
FireandFleet 06-07-2005, 12:58 AM Hmmm I was told when I bought my 4500 that you could move up 1 tire size and not void the warranty After that all warrany clams on the drive line and tranny were void.
A 3500 will pull that "little 4horse trailer" with no problem.
Sound to me you wont a toy and not a truck. At 350 bucks a pop for 24.5 thats a lot of $$$ for some fancy tires to show off.
FireandFleet 06-07-2005, 01:08 AM If you get cought with dyed fuel at the dealer then the enf warranty is gone. I worked for a gm dealer for years the first thing I did was pull a fuel sample. If it was dyed I called GM warranty service and had them to send out a clerk. It was all down hill from there.
roidman81 06-07-2005, 08:00 AM This thread is total bs.. lets try to understand why so many people have been duuped into beleving this kid? Heres how this works the famliy farm has a company say "mom and pop orange growers LLC" The kid orders a truck for the farm and can drive it when its not working the company owns it insures it and pays DMV.. An a 18 year old driving a 70,000 truck ?? come on it will be wreaked or stolen within a year.
Turfmower 06-07-2005, 08:36 PM :exactly: This is all BS. If it was going to be in 4/28. no follow up and pictures of the truck.
techprof1 06-08-2005, 01:57 AM :knight: I agree!!!!
