Hi, I bought the truck with 45k on it. 6" lift with 35 Toyo MT's, I got 10.6 hand calc mpg. My turbo went out and chev replaced it with a brand new one!! Furthermore, I just added 4" turbo back, and AFE stage 2 air, I'm now getting 10.8 on my last 3 tanks of fuel :(...that sucks. I know this thread has been beat to death, but I'm at a loss for ideas. I drive 75 mph on the free way and drive normal around town. I'm here to tell you that when on a road trip stopping ever 200 miles for fuel in a truck this nice is a bunch of S***. I would be happy to try any chip/tuner that is our there...but I'm not convinced I'll ever see the 16mpg that I deserve out of this truck. Thanks for your replys...

2005 Crew Shortbox LT with rcd 6" and 20" toyo mt's. Thanks Folks!

is the speedo calibrated for your tires? yes this topic has been beat to death.. stay under 2k rpm's and get a tuner to calibrate for your tires and speedometer. anything over 2k rpm's is open loop...I.E. dumping fuel... 75mph has to be like 2500 rpm's or something..

you know that automatically have a lift and larger tires doesn't really help mileage right?

My speedo is 7% off per 2 differents GPS units, hence the hand calc. I do realize that the lift and tires don't/won't help. 10.8 is horrible!!

so your speedo says your going 75mph and your actually going 70mph. I assume the 75mph you refer to is from the GPS then. 70 is over 2k rpm's as well I believe.. unless you have a 6-spd I think 65mph is 2k rpm's.

Exactly 70 on the speedo is 75 on the gps. Not that is matters, but the speed limit in MT is 75 (most people go 82). How can you drive 65 mph and keep your sanity?

Does any one have any suggestions to improve mileage...I just drove one tank through on a 2 lane road and didn't go over 65 mpg...STILL 10.8 or 10.9 at the most.

the key is to stay under 2000 rpm. some trucks get great mileage and some just dont. I get a consistant 20-22 mpg cruising at about 1850 rpm

First start with a real CAI and also the LBZ Mouthpeice. Then try a PPE standard tuner and run it on tune 2 or 3. With those three things along with your 4" exhaust you should get 2 to 3 mpg. I have heard also that electric fans will give you another 1.5 to 2.5 mpg. I would also get the speedo recalibraded because with that being off it will be pretty hard to get the right numbers even by hand. Those big tires are going to kill you though. I went from 265's to 285's and lost 1-1.5 mpg. As for stopping for fuel ya that sucks big time but we all have that problem because GM blew that big time with putting small tanks in. Who ever came up with that one should be hung up and slowly shot to death. And to go with a proper size after market tank your looking at over $800, what a rip off.

Your freeway mpg should be better. My truck (2005 bone stock, 37" tires, stock gears, 10+inches of lift) gets 16 hi-way and 12-13 city. I normally don't drive over 70 mph. Of course these mpg numbers are all hand calculated.
