Okay Guys:

We've all had time to run tests on the new LLY's, but it still doesn't seem to be a thread that clearly gives bottom line results for individual programmers and stack options. What programmers are you running, or what stack combo do you have. And most important, what are the dyno or track results. Be complete with your list of mods so we can get a good comparison in this thread. Let's get a good comparison here. If I can get enough info, I'll consolidate it and post a product review thread for all to see back to back results.

As much as I'd like to give you a definite answer that THIS ONE is the BEST, it's just not that easy!

I will say that the Predator is a very good value for what you get with the LLY anyway. An extra 100HP at the wheels with the ability to scan codes, check balance rates, remove speed limiter, and calibrate the speedo for under $400 is about the best deal running. The programming is by no means absolutely flawless, but it does offer very usable power that is relatively smooth for every day driving.

I'm no expert, these are just my observations thus far. Take it for what it's worth.

Price should probably be one of the last notes in the list. Kind of focus on performance and if it comes at a low price that is a benefit too. I ran the Predator for about a month and then swapped over to the Edge. The Predator is a great unit and I might stack them after my tranny is upgraded but I like the abiity to quickly change programs with the Edge (use the truck for towing) and the truck is also alot quieter. I felt like I was driving a car (soundwise) after I went to the Edge.

I think a few people here have tested these two stacked.

Good input so far, thanks. As long as I get enough response to this thread, I'll organize a summary by performance, features and price. Anyone with a programmer or a stack combo, please chime in and tell us what you think. I'm trying to keep this thread limited to the LLY.

i think that by far the predator is the best bang for the buck. and the only other option i have is stacking because no other power adder adj for tire size. that is a biggie when i was searching for a programer. i plan on buying the van aaken right after i install my exhaust and gauges. i want something that i can adj on the fly but still have all the goodies of the pred. i plan on getting a tranny with in the year so i wont beat onit to much. i believe 430 hp is the rating for the pred/van aaken stack.

Hi there,

I have the Predator and edge/attiude. I got the Predator because i sent the edge out for reflashing. I like the Predator for the power it gives you right away (when cold).

I currently have the predator at tow or lvl 1 and the edge at lvl 1 and i must say it seems more powerfull then the edge at lvl 3 alone. I get a ton more black smoke when i jump on it as opposed to just the edge. I am considering a powershot to see the lp will get a cleaner fullier burn. Have not played with it long enought to tell you how it performs on other lvls.

p.s. my mpg went up with the predator tune 2mpg over stock and 1 over the edge on lvl 3. will report on mpg with the stack soon.

I started with the edge/attitude setup first because of the on the fly adjustment, not having to purchase gauges, backdown to save tranny and turbo. Next i went with the mbrp ss exhaust with their front pipe and afe stage 2 intake. After reading all the good things about the Predator, I got it for the diagnostics, speed limiter, and speedo adjustment. I installed the 40 hp tune, and toggle between 1 and 2 setting on the edge. Dont know hp figures but it is smooth powerful and will go as fast as i want.
I have 54000 miles on this truck and 40000 of it has been chipped. I run 285s and tow daily and have never limped my tranny.
Tranny is stock, cept for deep sump pan from gmdieseltech, and torquedrive fluid from Amsoil.

I just installed the Superchips tuner on level 2. The power increase is impressive. No horsepower or time slips for comparison. The speedomoter correction is excellent also. Rolling away from a red light, ease into the throttle spin the rear tires, shift to second spin the rear tires some more lots of fun.

How much weight do you pull? I wouldn't mine safely gaining some more pulling power. Never complain that there is to much! :)

i have stacked the predator on 100/85/65 with the edge on all levels. tranny is stock for now so some shifts are slow when you bump up the power on the edge, it pulls hard and clean most of the time on 85/lvl2 low boost 5, but i have noticed a slight bumping of the truck a few seconds after you get on it, im not sure if its the timing of the two or the lack of fuel. 100/lvl5 low boost 5 smokes like a train but barks the turbo way too easily and isnt consistant enough to run at the track. when stacked i can max out the edge's boost reading pretty quickly. and i dont recall seeing over about 1350* ever.

i should have some times when the track opens back up

hope that helps
