: 255/75/16 clearance, Dunlop Rover RVXT?
sailinstud420 11-22-2008, 09:12 PM Looking at running a set of Dunlop Rover RVXT's for plowing this winter, anyone tried these? I can get 255/75/16 installed for $476.00 and it is a 3000 lb rated tire, forgot to ask if that is a 8 or 10 ply or what load it is considered, but it should be adequate...
Do 255/75/16 have any chance of rubbing on the stock 16 x7 wheels? I ran 285's last winter on stockers and had a slight rub, so I don't want to repeat that. The plow on the front decreases my clearance, so keep that in mind. 285's on the 16x8 wheel is what I run in the summer, those rub like crazy, I had to do some trimming.
Also, was looking at these new hankook RF10's, they are about $ 580 installed, but look pretty cool, anyone run these yet? They are cheaper than Cooper' ATR's or Vatiiva's, Open Country's, etc... Something to think about.

sailinstud420 11-23-2008, 07:10 PM can anyone weigh in on this? they are going on tomorrow unless someone talks me out of it.
Cougar GT-E 11-24-2008, 11:16 PM I read about those rovers and they had a bad internet rap for wearing out quick. No direct experience with them, just reading.
Toyo's got the nod, but the cost is 2x.
The 255's don't rub, but I did trim and crank a bit. Just went over some frozen muddy rut lands last weekend and with a lot of bouncing and jouncing there was no rub. But with a plow? Dunno

sailinstud420 11-27-2008, 01:26 PM I ended up getting them. They are 255/85/16's btw, not 75's like the title says. They do not rub at all on stock wheels, with the plow on I get a very slight rub when the wheel is fully cranked, I have done some trimming for my 285' bfgs, so I might need to crank the t-bars a little more. They do work good in the snow and have a very deep tread pattern, now we'll see how long they last....

Keep us posted on this. I'm curious to see how they wear for you.
wagonwheeler 12-04-2008, 12:35 PM So these actually needed more room than the 285's?
I've just started considering 255/85's (Either a Maxxis 761 or the Rover RVTX) for my K2500 suburban but don't want to crank the bars... May need to stick with 265/75's.

Cougar GT-E 12-04-2008, 10:58 PM Not more room. They are taller, but narrower. About the same or a bit less clearance.

sailinstud420 12-06-2008, 12:39 PM you should be okay clearance wise, my issue was the heavy plow on the front of my truck was dropping the front end pretty good, with timbrens and a couple cranks I have cured that though.
70 gsconvt 12-17-2008, 09:34 AM I had these on my truck. I love the size, but this particular tire gave me fits trying to get a set of four that would balance. I did get about 40K miles out of them. I'm thinking of trying another dealer, maybe they had a bad batch or something. For the price, they're great. I'm sure the Toyo M55 is a great tire, but it's also twice the price of the RVXT's.
70 gsconvt 12-29-2008, 10:21 AM Just to let everyone know, the RVXT is no longer produced in the 255/85 size according to the dealer by me.
