Is it necessary to drop the tortion bars for 4wd launches (and how much) or is it safe to leave the front end alone as long as I have tie rod sleeves?
'02 dually, lb7, hot juice turned up, stage 5 trans. I need front end 101 coarse before hitting the track.
Thanks in advance

Droping would be better. all the way down. Take pressure off em before you do! At a min jack the truck up but its much better to get the tool.Smear a bit of antisieze on the bolts too while you have em out.
Glad I asked. What tool? All I have now is a jack, hammer, lug wrench, and vise grips.
What I heard before was to turn them 10 turns. I am only going to run at the track 2 days then back to work. Should I just skip the sleeves and lower it or get the sleeves. Then when Im back on the street with sleeves i can 4x4 launch with no breakage once and a while?

I have launched in 4x4 with sleeves(not as hard as at the track) and not broke anything without the bars dropped....I have also launched with more than I should have but do as I say and not as I do.
There is a tool made to take pressure off the torsion bar so you can adjust it without streesing the thread. Taking most of the pressure of the t bars by jacking up the front of the truck will be better than just cranking on the bolt but its still not the 100% best way to do it.
Number of turns dont matter. Mark were the torsion bar is rotated to. Also measure your truck's ride hight before you mess with the bars. Bounce the front end a few times to make sure its settled, dosnt matter were you measure as long as its easy and consistent, bottom of the bumper or the like works.

Thanks ratlover, your a big help. (I truly need help:o: )
I will see if I can get one from a local mech for the weekend or just crank them down and hope for the best.

Parts america or auto zone or the like may have on availible as a part of the loan a tool deal.
Some make a make shift deal with vice grips or a jawed puller or so I have heard.
Edit: duperdiesel isnt alwasy onling all the time but is alwasy prompt in getting you his stuff. You might also try doing a search on his center link and see if thats something that interests you.

any idea how many turns the bars are up on stock configuration, i was told after they installed my 8" rims, that they raised it 7 turns higher from stock, i found that my 60 foot times are not great since then, and now the truck has a bad wheel hop as well, since then i haved turned down 3.5 turns, but not much better, just wondering from when the bolts are just started on the threads to how many turns till stock, thanks
centerlink advantages? ( no truck pulling)

Number of turns mean absolutly nothing. The factory keeps cranking till its what ever thier speced ride hight is. Different trucks come with different cranks from the factory. Some are cranked more side to side also......
x turns dosnt mean x inches. Thats why some guys can get x inches of cranks and other guys are wondering WTF and have to buy the different "keys" to get the same lift.
Talk to superdiesel, moss022, ryanu and some others(I cant remember who all has the center links) and see what they say. Advantages are it dosnt bend like a stocker and you can launch how ever stupid you want to without it flexing.
