: New Predator V9.r04
Pex68 11-22-2008, 02:00 AM OK, got my new Predator and the version is V9.R04 born on date 9/something/2008. It only has the following tunes:
Towing
+65
+85
+100
I didn't see anything about disabling EGR or a Quick Learn Trans thing. Thought I read somewhere on here Predators had these features? What happened to the 120 tune???
Dropped the 85 in and went for a ride, trans slipping like a MF'er, drove real easy...REAL easy and it was bad. Came back home and went through every option and couldn't find the trans thing. Said F-it and went for another ride, easy at first then started getting on it. Feels like I'm letting off the gas, waiting, then getting back on it between shifts-foot steady on the pedal the whole time. Guess it got a little better by the time I was heading back home but how long until it starts shifting normal again and should I be babying it or driving it hard?
RYDNHI4x4 11-22-2008, 06:52 AM Diablosport will not put the EGR disable into their tuners because of the whole EPA bs. There are only 2 or 3 tuners out there right now that will do this for you.
But on the other hand you could always buy a finger stick.
Pex68 11-22-2008, 11:03 AM Thanks, just thought I remembered reading that they had something like that. I have a stick, just haven't put it in yet. Maybe it was the old versions?
Unit453 11-22-2008, 11:22 AM Also, dont worry about the trans issues. Give it time brother. It needs to learn that new found power. Drive how you normally wouldnt and it'll teach itself when and how to shift.

So I guess your saying not to baby it and force it to learn!!!
RYDNHI4x4 11-22-2008, 11:54 AM Don't baby it, but also don't just start jumping into the throttle and doing boosted launches.

Isn't that what's it's all about?!?!?!?!:rolleyes::D:rolleyes::D
I'll give it some time and thanks for the info. Pissed the 120 tune is gone though! Anybody go into modifying your tunes and if so what did you modify? I just saw the option but didn't go into it to see what could be modified.
Unit453 11-22-2008, 12:54 PM I think those are custom tunes Diablo Sport offers. I dont think its anything we ourselves can do.
Pex68 11-22-2008, 01:22 PM I have to check it out, when you choose what tune you want to load, next screen is LOAD or MODIFY, I hit MODIFY and a disclaimer came up saying Diablo Sport is not responsibile for any damage that may occure when modifying a tune-accept or disagree. I figured I would just go with the std 85 and backed out. You may be right though because I know you can go to a dealer and they can load a custom tune based on mods. As soon as my tranny is happy I'll play some more.
Off Topic-Unit453-I replied to a HID topic about your fogs-check it out and let me know if you would. Thanks!!!

RYDNHI4x4 11-22-2008, 02:06 PM Actually the new DiabloSport Trinity just came out and it offers the 120 tune for your year model.

i see you have the 9r version...
i have the v2.02 predator and it does have the EGR block feature. however, you have one of the newer 9r versions. they removed it for all of those versions. btw, they now have a hardware/software upgrade program for the old v202 where you send the unit in and they give it an update to the newer hardware/software. it's $99 if you don't have your original purchase receipt!
remember, if i was to upgrade, i would lose the egr block feature...
RYDNHI4x4 11-23-2008, 11:10 AM I don't have the 9r version cause I have a LBZ, but I always thought that Diablosport did not offer the EGR Block feature because of the EPA crap.
That kind of sucks. Rock and a hard place. Do you upgrade and lose the feature or just run the old version. Very good question. IMO I would run the old version if your not having any issues with it.

My 2.02 has the EGR on/off .........I think they have stopped doing that !
DS underates their hp and it is rear wheel hp they are listing anyway.........just keep that in mind !! Kennedy Diesel has some dyno charts for the 2.02 and the 85 tune puts down more like 100 rwhp and the 100 tune puts down more like 140 rwhp !
My trans. got fried on the 85 tune ......jfyi !
Wonder if the new version has any advantages over the 2.02 ........as far as shifting or anything ?????
Pex68 11-23-2008, 01:46 PM I thought I had read that it had the egr disable. Shifting still sucks, although 90 times better then the first drive. It still feels like it's defueling between shifts, if that doesen't go away I'll be pissed. Also sounds more like a diesel now, engine is louder, at least it seems that way but could just be me, you know, you do some mods and then pay more attention and notice thing that have always been there. I'll give it some time and see what's up.
Anyone go from 2.02 to 9R??? If so what differences did you notice???

exactly!
i bought the 2.02 recently specifically for the egr code block feature because i plan on doing the egr block in the future and don't want to have to buy a fingerstick. and i don't want to pay another $100 and lose that feature.
it's a tough call because i heard that when you upgrade you also get the live data streaming/logging feature and the internet upgrade capability (which the 2.02 doesnt have). right now i can only see the live data on the handheld device while running, but can't log the results to track. oh well.:o:
i'm happy for now and i'm just hoping that the upgrade program will continue on for a few years before they drop it, that way i can upgrade later if i choose...
