vetterdstr 03-23-2005, 02:08 PM THE BEST I EVER HAD.. was... On flat land and driving 60 MPH I was able to average 20 mpg. Once I hit a few little hills it dropped to just under 19. Seems the Dually's dont get the same mileage as the regular trucks. Then again my truck is a crew cab so it weighs a little more and that hurts mileage as well.
I will load it down with a camper and trailer soon... I am wondering just what the mileage will be as well.
VR :)
bartman 03-23-2005, 04:02 PM I will be on my 4th fill-up today. I have been getting a consistent 14 mpg around town and as good as 18 running 65 on the fwy. I will be doing my first tow tomorrow...38 foot toyhauler with stuff weighs about 14k. I'm hoping to get 10-12mpg towing at 60-70 mph. I will post my results when I get back. Round trip should be about 800 miles. I pulled the trailer home from storage yesterday and was really happy with extra stability the dually gives! I had a 2003 GMC 2500 HD. It had great power, but I was a bit leary of being over-loaded with the big trailer.
Tim G. 03-23-2005, 05:04 PM My current, personal truck has 6,000miles on it. It shows 17 on the highway, about 14 typical.
I just programmed with a Predator, and added an AFE stage II, and 285/16s on my SRW. We'll see. I've only driven it 10 miles since.
Now. I used to work at a big boat dealer. We had two '03 Dmax crew dually 4x4.
10 mpgs on average pulling 12,000lb boat.
They pulled a 46 Cigarette on a steel Myco trailer (About 22,000lb) from SE FL to CA. The averaged 9 mpgs. Cruised at 60 with the Air cond on.
This poor truck only ever saw two engine oil changes in 50,000 miles, and never a trans fluid change. Never missed a beat.
That truck is what convinced me to buy my D max/allison
Oh, anyone that claims 20+ MPGs is on Cocaine.
Took a trip to Ga. a few months back fron cent. Fl.
73 mph up 19.5 hand calculated. Trip back at 73 mph 20.5 hand calculated.
Pass the Bump.

Charleschs 03-23-2005, 06:47 PM Wow, I wish I got that mileage. I only get 12 miles a gallon, unloaded. Been putting on miles to see if it would improve but still at 12 miles a gallon. I have a 04 crew, whats wrong with mine? any suggestions?

jnieberlein 03-24-2005, 01:10 AM Mountains, hills, flat driving, wot, all kinds of things affect it. I have only seen 17 and change once highway throught the hills of va and wv, Never even been close to 20
DuramaxBoy 03-24-2005, 08:25 AM Also, Check your air filters and tire pressure and alignment to increase a little mpg.
053500cc 03-24-2005, 08:39 AM Well, i don't know if i've had mine long enough to know, but mine has 550 miles on it, 05 3500 dually, crew cab, LS, 4x4, 6 spd., I have checked mine and am getting between 16 & 17. This is 95% city/rural driving with about 50 miles of interstate or less. I've had my truck a little over a month. Towing with it for the first time today, my camper (5000 lbs.) I don't know about towing mpg yet, today's tow will only be about 30 miles 1 way, in town and rural driving. Let me say one more thing, I LOVE THIS TRUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Montana Mike 03-24-2005, 11:46 AM Bad Fuel will also get you BAD MILEAGE
