: Turbo Oil Supply Line Fittings?
BernieMac 11-21-2008, 11:27 AM So my oil supply line to my turbo is badly kinked and I ordered a new one from the dealer. The dealer charged wayyy to much and the line I received is female on both ends.
The truck has not been modified, this is that way it was from the factory...
I have searched past threads and seen that others have had the same issue, but I didn't find a thread that listed the solution. So what do I need to buy to make this work?
The male/male fitting that goes into the turbo doesn't work on the block end because fitting is slightly too large to thread into the block.
Thoughts?
Dennis Galligani 11-21-2008, 11:40 AM If you can do without the truck for a little while, I'd send it back to the dealer and have them either get the right one or get it elsewhere, or have one made. I suppose if you used a hose guide/support to make the bend off the turbo, you could probably use straight hose and wouldn't need a hard pipe.
Or, you can just size up an adapter. A local fuel injection shop or hydraulic/plumbing supply house should be able to help you get an appropriate adapter. I don't recall the size, but I put a "T" adapter into the turbo so I could run an auxiliary oil pressure sensor.
BernieMac 11-21-2008, 11:46 AM The female to female part is the only one my dealer can get.
As for making a custom hose I was thinking finding the correct size adapter should be just as easy... I will head down to a local hydraulic supply place, but the thought of sorting through bins trying to find a piece that works frightens me...lol
I was hoping to just sit on the phone and be like "I need a 1/4 NPT to 3/8 SAE flare" or something similar.
Dennis Galligani 11-21-2008, 05:38 PM I think I misunderstood you before. Is this correct: You can fit the new line to the turbo, but not the block side because you need another male/male to go from supply line to block?
If that's correct, we just need to figure out the size of the hole in the block, since you have the supply line in your hand and can take it with you.
jpringle3 11-21-2008, 06:20 PM If the hose you got has female ends then they should have the proper fittings to go into the block and the turbo.
BernieMac 11-21-2008, 06:41 PM Dennis - Sorry for explaining it poorly before... We are on the same page now.
jpringle3 - You are probably right... But the desk jockey can't find it on his computer. Plus they take a week to get "specialized" parts in.
BernieMac 11-24-2008, 11:28 AM Alright, so the dealer can't find the fitting the goes into the block to connect to the oil feed line. Anyone else know a part number or a place online to try and look up the part?
The listing for a 92 F code connector is 442323 : 1/4-18 NPTF EXT , 5/8-18 INT . The turbo feed hose is 10183962 .
DieselCash 11-24-2008, 04:13 PM Could the dealer given you the wrong part?

I have read other threads were people had the same issue... but whether or not it is the "wrong" part. It is the only part my dealer lists and what I got matches what is in their parts diagram.
fastjohnny 11-27-2008, 07:54 AM BM, had the same experience, turbo oil supply line only comes in female-female ends.
I just swapped the fitting on the turbo to a male pipe-male flare fitting. In fact, my aftermarket hose supplier just gave it to me.
BTW, the General screwed the pooch on the new hose in more ways than one. My fittings were crimped in a different orientation causing me to have to put a longitudinal twist on the braided stainless line, not an easy feat, and dont want to kink the flexible part of the new line either.
fastjohnny 11-27-2008, 07:56 AM The problem with trying aftermarket is the 120 degree or so fitting to the turbo not readily available aftermarket.
BernieMac 11-27-2008, 04:18 PM fastjohnny - thanks for the info
BernieMac 11-28-2008, 12:01 PM Well I feel kinda stupid now...
The 1/4" male to 3/8" male flare fitting that was in my turbo (a part the dealer lists) fits in the block as well. I had tried and tried to get that fitting into the block with no luck...
Anyways there must have been a burr in the threads on the block because I eventually got it in there.
The new line supplied by the dealer works great.
