We have a 08 duramax here that needs the rear axle replaced but As I was searching around there seems to be two different sizes. There is the 11.5 ring gear and the 10.5 ring gear?? The truck we have has the 11.5 ring gear according to the dealership. Can you use either one and does the 07 classic and the new body style interchange?? Thanks

The 11.5" ring gear is what all the Duramax's come with standard. The 10.5" ring gear is the standard 14-bolt for the gas engines. I have no idea about interchangeability between body styles though.

He rebuilds wrecked trucks for resale...can't really warranty that. :(

Yes the truck is a rebuilder and the axle got slightly bent, so the best way is too replace the whole thing.

Thanks for clarifying that for me. I was thinking it sorta looked like that is what it was but wasn't sure exactly. :)

Actually their are 3 14 bolt rear ends---- 9.5--10.5---11.5. 11.5 is the one you want

Alright I got the 11.5 off an 07 classic for our 08 and the place where the drive shaft pops into and is held on by u-bolts is slight smaller than the one that was on the truck, and so it won't fit it in right. The bolt appears to be the same size that holds that yoke on as the other one. Does that thing just unbolt and come off??

You still have to get the right one even if it was a wrecked truck:)

The axle housing and everything else is the same. Except for the brake lines and some of the cables. I'm just hoping that I can swap that pinion around. Thought I would see if anyone on here knows??
