: A/C Quit

I know it is winter but I love my A/C. And I live in Florida so it was 67 today so it was not below the zone (34 I think) where the AC does not cycle.

I drove to my daughters school today to pick her up. When I got back in the truck I noticed the AC was no longer blowing cold Air. I drove home and checked and the A/C compressor had quit cycling. I checked all the fuses and relays. Cycled through all the controls on the A/C. Turned it off and on, but no luck. I also looked for evidence of a leak but couldn't find one. After several hours and several engine cycles the thing started working again. I am at a loss for the cause but maybe someone has seen this before.

Any dtcs?, a low pressure maybe the cause meaning that the pressure maybe boardline for correct operation, low pressure switches are common as well in these parts anyway...

I was thinking that, I'll have to put it on the guage if it does it again.

And when it stops working take the end of a screw driver and give the low press switch a little wack, if it comes on then its the swtich or a boarder line charge, the gauges will tell you the charge to help eliminate one...

Was it humid out? Did you have the fan on low? It probably froze the evaporator up, and after a couple hours it melted off and started working again.

It was not humid and I had only driven it 5 miles to my kids school. Turned the truck off for 15 minutes and then it never came back on.

low pressure switch is a common failure on our trucks.. easily replaced and not expensive.

Same thing happened to my wife's Buick Rendezvous this past summer. Still have not figured it out.

It's an '02. Real nice vehicle so far. Some people have had nothing but problems with theirs but so far so good with ours (knock on wood).
