My Chevy hd was built Oct 19 04, at about 8500 miles the truck started smoking while traveling down the road at 65 mph, as I passed another car and applied more fuel the motor rattled and black smoke started spewing from tail pipe. This has happened once or twice a week since Feb. The truck has 10300 miles now. I took it to the dealer and they told me that they had not seen any 05s with injector problems! mechanic was able to hear and see the problem with me driving the truck, he had his scanner pluged in and was unable to find any codes, all injector pressures seamed to be ok,and no check eng lite. problem unresolved even after 2nd trip to shop, there telling me to drive the truck untill the problem is continous so they can shut injectors off one by one.-:t Merced CA.

Find another dealer.

I agree, find another dealer. I also hate to hear your story, mine was built Oct. 21, 2004. I am up to 17,800 miles though without issue.

On edit, let us know where you are from and maybe someone can point you to a better dealer.

Find A Different Dealer . But First Buy Some Stanadyne Lubricant And See If It Helps . Your Dealer Probly Sells It. It Worked For Me .

i second diesel_man. get some stanadyne, replace the fuel filter and run it. my lly has 74k miles on it without any issues. is it just black smoke or is there some white? is ti real thick? when mine did what you were describing, i had done exactly what i was telling you above. it happened to be bad fuel.

it might not be your case, but always worth a shot. if the dealer is telling you bad injectors, ask them how many has the technician replaced. actually ask to speak with the tech. don't let them use your truck as a ginny pig.

Been there, done that. Changed out one injector then the rest were changed at a later date. No problems since.

Good luck,

I think the tech is doing what he can to help. He can only go so far. If it aint broke, its very hard to fix.

Thats where I would go with this one, if it isnt acting up, its hard to find the trouble. When it is acting up, he can play with it and find a solution
