: What EGT's with edge and towing? blizzardplowman 03-22-2005, 11:35 PM Hey Thought I'd post and ask, empty lvl 1 825-900, lvl 2 about 50 more on the prior #'s, towing light flat lvl1 1000-1100 any kind of grade 1250, and a long hill 1350+, lvl2 show's no real change. My LB7 only got that hot in 100 temps and towing long grades at 75 mph+ with the fifth wheel in tow. Your exhaust temp will drop. Water temp will be more tollerable too when on the grade. If that doesnt do it, theres rumor that some guys are changing the lly water pump and radiator and installing LB7 parts and curring their problems. 9W3-HD 03-23-2005, 11:01 PM I asked the same question about a week ago- empty lev1 75 mph with a head wind I was seeing 875-950. I thought it was a little high, but guess not. CAMike 03-24-2005, 11:57 PM I hope those who are changing their LLY water pumps and radiators for LB7 parts are joking. If you recall, the GM pre release bulletin stated that the LLY fan pulley diameter is smaller than the LB7 pulley thus it makes more turns per minute than the LB7 pulley ie more air through. I know they run warmer but with the other engineering changes that were made going from LB7 to LLY, these engines would run even warmer if it weren't for the LLY fan and pulley. I beleive the LLY pumps water vanes were slightly changed to produce more water flow as well. Can anyone else confirm that part? I'm 95% sure though. Highest I saw was 1295. This was pulling up a grade (not sure the %) with the cruise set at 78 MPH.
