I am going to be pulling my 29 ft TT round trip 4000+ miles next month and am getting close to needing new tires.... Should I get the new rubber first or when I am done?

Wondering if pulling that heavy for that long will cause shorter life of new tires.

Thanks.

I would say it won't affect the life of the new tires at all if properly inflated. It might be difficult to judge the balance of the new tires while pulling though- since so many other factors are involved. But I would check the lug nut torque after 200 miles (or less) regardless. If the current tires are safe, I would use them up on the trip. Then buy new tires. If they are sketchy- it's a no-brainer, replace 'em. Just my .02 worth

I'll agree with SCGMC. If you think your tires can survive the whole trip and keep your family safe in all weather conditions I say wait to get the tires. But if you think you might hit some bad weather like snow or w/e and are on the edge about getting tires I would just get them now.

I did a 3k round trip with pretty much bald BFG MT's but I only had 1500lbs in the bed and it was my brother and I. I replaced the tires shortly after that trip though.

If there is even a shadow of a doubt about a key safety feature such as tires, replace them!!!...

Good move. You don't want a blowout while towing that size trailer.
