Ok I don't know which forum this belongs in but will try here. Anyway as in my other thread my truck got rear ended by a box truck and still going through and determining extents of damage and if frame is bent. Currently we are at $8000. Anyway the truck took a pretty good hit and it drove me into another car in front. See garage for damage.
So my question is the truck only has 3000 miles on it and if its repaired and I do decide to keep it will GM honor their warrenty? This includes if tehy would cover drivetrain and engine? Exhaust and muffler already need replacing. So can they say later on "well the truck was hit good and it was caused the crash, therefore it should have been covered then and its not covered", even though it may have not shown up now? I know GM has to prove that is was caused by a crash, but with things that can pop up later does this give them a way out? I am afraid that they will say the engine is not covered cause the crash could have put force to the back of the transfer case and forced vibrations into the engine, which caused premature wear. Or some crazy stuff like that. I know this is a stretch but is their any possibilility? This will determine too if I should keep it and if so should I just void the warrenty and put an aftermarket exhaust on and remove the dpf and get a chip now. Thanks.

How would GM know it has been repaired?
There is always signs...,if its something that the crash caused, is that a manufactures defect, that is always what i ask myself when deciding these types of calls, if its hit in the rear and the radio quits, no problem, if the rear tires start wearing after the crash, well thats not gm's fault...

GM can't void a warranty because it was in an accident. They can deny repairing something that was damaged from abuse, neglect or an accident, but a blanket warranty void really will only happen if the vehicle is totalled by the insurance company. Any future problems that may arise from the accident will be covered by the insurance company so you really have nothing to worry about.
As far as removing the DPF that is an entirely different story, and a decision that can only be made by you. Personally I'd just get a stock system reinstalled then install an aftermarket system down the road, I'd also keep the stock system to reinstall for future warranty work should the need arise.

I was in a similar situation on a 07 vortecmax I was in that got rear ended me at a stop and the driver that rear ended me doing about 60mph or so. Well after the 7k In rear end repairs all was good for a few months. Well I put ALOT of miles on a truck every month. Few months later all the forward gears on the transmission went out. Dealer said they pulled up the vin and seen it was in an accident, but since so many miles had passed they'd have a hard time arguing the accident cause the issues. Then later at 3 diff times the left side lifter banks collapsed all replaced under warranty. That truck was shit after the accident. My 06 same options hasnt had one issue warranty or otherwise. After the accident the 07 was never the same. But they did fix under warranty as they didnt think the fight was worth the trouble with so many miles passed. I guess my advice would be get out of the truck if you can and get it replaced it will never be the same.

GM can and WILL void the complete warranty if it has a salvage title. I do know that much.;)

Straight from service policies and procedures, notice recalls and emissions components are still covered:
1 - ARTICLE 1
1.4 - Warranty Repairs, Special Coverage Adjustments, Policies on Specific Vehicles, Components and Programs
1.4.14 - Voided Warranties and Branded Titles Voided Warranties and Branded Titles
The New Vehicle Limited Warranty is void on any vehicle with a title that has currently or previously been branded as salvage, scrap, junk, totaled, etc. Through state vehicle registration records, GM receives branded title listings periodically which in-turn are used to update the warranty system file. Only claims for repairs covered by the Emissions Warranty and/or recall will be processed.
All GM Dealer's (excluding Saab) are to access the GMVIS system in order to qualify warranty coverage. Customers who wish to challenge a voided or branded title should be directed to GM Customer Assistance.
*Saab Dealers will need to access the Chassis section within IRIS in order to determine if a vehicle has a branded title or a special warranty restriction. An "S" code or an “N” code will appear in the “wrty stat” field. An “S” code indicates special warranty restriction, therefore, dealership personnel should contact the Dealer Business Center (DBC) in order to determine if the repair is covered under the new vehicle limited warranty prior to the performance of such repairs. An "N" code indicates no warranty unless the vehicle repair is related to a recall. Customers who wish to challenge a voided or branded title should be directed to Saab Customer Assistance.
Thanks guys for the info. It was very helpful.
