: Ever... get that feeling you've just been....
Diesel_Day_Dreamin 03-22-2005, 05:47 PM I ordered a well equiped GMC 2500HD, SLE, CC, D/A, 4x4, HD Power Package, Dual Zone automatic AC, Skid Plate Package, Cloth Bucket seats, CD+Cassette Bose system, Camper mirrors, Trailering provisions w/ wiring (Z82 & UY2), Alloy wheels (basically all options minus XM radio, DVD system, and Onstar).
Sticker Price was $46,403.00
My quoted price was $41,129.06 (Including destination charge)
Was This a Good Price???
I got my GID Number from Dmax_Tim (Thanks Tim), which I made sure the dealer would accept before depriving someone else of one, since they are a limited commodity. Question now is the dealer (stealer) claims he gave me a pice $17.00 above the "Supplier Price". How do I know he's telling the truth? If the dealer gets a better incentive when I present my GID number, why do they hesitate to take it!?!? I feel I've just been s****ed! Any help Howard_m18, Dmax_Tim or anybody that knows? Thanks!
:help:
Reineke 03-22-2005, 08:56 PM Sounds like you are getting the GMC version of my truck. My final price was close to that after TTL before the down payment. Having the certificate takes all of the "fun" of the truck purchase out for the DEALERS. You automatically get a good price without having to haggle. It's a game. I believe that the GM in the Driveway gets you the same deal as the Supplier Discount. Once your truck comes in and all of the paper work gets completed, you will have no more worries. Good luck!
s2kskibum 03-22-2005, 09:54 PM I was negotiating a d/a $46.5, and got the dealer to 37.5 without much effort... excab, lt, etc.
Diesel_Day_Dreamin 03-22-2005, 10:05 PM Thanks, I feel a little better.
Diesel_Day_Dreamin 03-22-2005, 10:10 PM s2kskibum, was that a new truck order or were you negotiating on a truck already on the lot? I had to order what I wanted and when you do that, it seems you have less negotiating room. Just was wondering your situation.
s2kskibum 03-23-2005, 10:13 AM It was on the lot. Green with tan leather, LB, EC, but still had the xm stuff I didn't want. We split ways when we had agreed that I would pay 37.5K, after days of haggeling, and when the time came to buy, the $299 dealer handling was added. Was a principal thing - I really don't need a truck right now - actually I might - mine goes into the shop Monday. May be the head....
Ordering does seem to have less wiggle room on any car - have you searched your whole area? We went all the way to Austin TX for a Tahoe once.
Hate buying cars! Good luck!

Do you have a GM Gold Card (Master Card) Don't See many people mentioning them when they talk about the final price.I have over $2700.00 credit towards my newDmax. Dealer talked me into getting one back in 94
Reineke 03-23-2005, 09:18 PM I don't think they let you use your earnings on that card if you have a GM in the Driveway Cert or the Supplier Discount. They will let you use the friends and family card that gives you 1% toward your next new GM.
Diesel_Day_Dreamin 03-23-2005, 09:30 PM Ringer68,
I thought of getting one and purchasing all my goodies before taking delivery... But like Reineke says, with my GID Number, I don't think they will let me have my cake and eat it too. Thanks for the input.
RICKYY 03-24-2005, 02:17 AM Well, D.D.D., I am a long way from you in SoCal but last Sunday I was on a dealers lot with a friend and to kill some time I test drove a 05 D/A 2500 LT, EC, SB, 4X4 that basically had everything except XM, stickered for $45,000. The salesman offered me $7,000 off while we were standing on the lot and said they would come down more if I was willing to go wrestle with the sales manager for a little while. At first he said it was a "March Madness" sale. This dealer had a whole bunch of D/As, mostly crew cabs and the salesman eventually told me their DURAMAX sales had stagnated and they were trying to get rid of them. I almost bought a new D/A last July but was concerned about injector issues and bought a 1500 5.3 instead, otherwise I might have left there with a new truck because it seemed like they were willing to deal.
I posted about DURAMAX sales on the LLY forum and it was there for a few days providing some good input and then it disappeared, don't know what happened to it. It appears that production has caught up with demand, (or surpassed it) and it is now more of a buyers market.
I guess my whole point here is, it might be worth your while to check around, because I think you can do better than the price you got. There are a lot of these trucks sitting on lots now and you should be able to find what you want and dealers that are willing to deal. Good Luck, bottom line is, regardless of what you pay, you will still have a sweet truck!:ro)
Victory Red 04-03-2005, 09:04 AM They stopped offering the gold card a few years ago, you were stuck with the blue(3500 max vs 5000 gold). Anyhow the latest version of the card has no earnings limit, but they can now limit cash in amount on vehicles. That means more for slow movers, less for more popular trucks. Also in August of 02 I believe they took away the ability to combine the GM card with a supplier discount. Not a really big deal, since in most cases you can negotiate that same deal.

Diesel_Day_Dreamin 04-18-2005, 08:53 PM Well, we can close the book on this thread now. Went over all the paperwork this afternoon and I got the truck for $38,064.00 down from a MSRP of $46,403.00 less taxes & tags. I'm happy, and I guess in the long run, that is all that counts. Thanks everyone for the input. I definitely would have paid more if not for this site!
gunbunny 04-19-2005, 02:07 AM Congrats!! The GMSD is right on the invoice.
RUNNINHORN 04-20-2005, 01:47 PM My sticker price was $49,453
