: mirror plug questions...blue and black plugs
richard cheese 11-16-2008, 05:19 PM ok...i finally got my tow mirrors. when i was installing them, i saw that my drivers side had the blue and black plug. However, my passenger side only had the blue
im ASSuming :D that the blue plug is the mirror controls, whilethe black plug is the heater????
they are supposed to be heated.
thanks in advance

Daves DD 2500HD 11-17-2008, 12:14 PM I am not sure of the reason for the two plugs for Driver side while only one plug for Passenger side. My standard (non-towing) mirrors have the same plugs as you. They are both heated.
I did notice that the wires for the heat are the black wires (two) in the plug(s). On the Passenger side, the two black wires plus the wires for adjusting the mirror were in the single plug.
On the Driver side, one of the black wires was in the black plug and the other black wire was in the blue plug.
So your new tow mirrors should work fine and the heat ought to work as well.

funny...when i removed my stock mirrors, they both had a black and blue plug....
i will have pics later on today of them, as i have my old stock mirrors for sale in the for sale section
Daves DD 2500HD 11-17-2008, 01:42 PM What style were you old mirrors? Did they have the power extend in/out feature? Did they have the power fold option? That might explain the extra plug on the Passenger side.
I just know that my current mirrors have two plugs on Driver and one plug on Passenger. They are non-extend, non-fold, no turn signals. Heat works on both :)

yeah, the old ones folded, had a puddle light, heat, blinker....
new ones are the kool vue tow mirrors that mock the 06 tow mirrors. if those are the ones you have, i have a question....
my mirrors didnt come with any directions. how do i de activate the reverse mode for the mirrors, because when i put it back into drive, the mirrors dont go back to the drive position
thanks
Daves DD 2500HD 11-18-2008, 12:45 PM sorry...not much help for you on the Reverse to Drive question. I still have the plain stock mirrors. I am thinking about upgrading to Tow Mirrors someday...and will keep an eye on this thread to see what you learn.
Bump to the top.... someone has to have an idea. :)

The feature has to disabled through the DIC. The is an option there for "curb assist" IIRC. I, unfortunately, don't have the manual handy.
