where is the best place to put a trans temp sensor?

inline so you get a constant new temp reading, not the pan where the sensr will be heat soaked and not get constant actual trans temp readings.

Aeroforce Scan Gauge, plugs into the OBD II port. Reads trans temps and a whole lot more. It will read and clear DTC's too.

Whats wrong with the factory trans temp gauge? Its accurate.

Wrong.
Your method tells you nothing. Having the sensor in the pan tells you what the trans is working with and that is a must.
