Hey guys, I realize this subject has been beat to death on every forum from here to the north pole, but I'm still curious. We've been playing with the shop truck trying to get the launch right and still no success. 2.0 shorts at best. We've added Fabtech HD tie rods & PPE/Cognito Idler arm supports. I've lowered the torsion bars to stock, I've raised them to leveling kit height and no difference in launch capability. Anything over 2psi and the truck feels like an amusement park ride. I did add 20" wheels w/ 33's and I know this is not helping my cause, but truthfully the problem was there long before the wheels. I'm looking at replacing the center link, but I'm cautious of doing this, as I don't think it will cure the problem. Any thoughts?? Does anyone here use slicks and 2wd launches??

When your looking at the cv's and tierods are they level?

If my bars are up just a little bit my truck is the same way. Feels like your a profesional bull rider.

Take the T-bar bolts completely out. Try again, You will probably have much better results.

The truck does what every D-max does, it SHOOTS left, then SHOOTS right, Hang on boy you're almost the 60ft mark!! LOL Honestly I thought the same thing, removing the keys all together and putting the stock shoes back on her when we go to the track. No, the CV are not level. I was trying to find a common balance, so I could keep my 20's, but if it means laying down the number, I'll be humble one night. We've actually found a small amount of success with running the caster a little negative, but like i said only launching at 2psi. When it was stock we could run 8-10psi and only feel like the kiddie section at Hersheypark. Now I'm waiting to shoot the half shaft out of the fender well.

Thanks for the input and help. I thought maybe I could find some miracle cure that we haven't heard of yet. Oh well. Thanks again!!

I have the same issue, with leveling keys or green keys, you will never launch, in fact if you keep making boosted launches in 4wd with those keys turned up you will have the same problem I had.........2 piece front axles!!!! I wish I could keep my leveled look and be able to launch hard in 4wd, but I guess I will have buy a 4" lift first. Good luck.

i had the same problem with mine at 5psi. trying to find a happy medium between my aftermarket keys turned all the way down, supports and sleeves. finally got around to putting the 6" lift i had layin around in. put stock keys back in and kept the front end down so the tie rods are horizontal with the ground. Pulled a few launches in 4hi at 5psi agian and now its good, only pulls to the left a bit when launched easy to hold though. time to start uppin the boost at launch now. leveled the back with 4"block and only on 33's till they wear out, then 35's

I have a very similar setup, 305's on 20's, Cognito Braces, Tie Rod Sleeves etc. and as long as my t-bars are turned all the way down it launches perfectly straight. There is no happy medium with just putting it back to stock and hoping to get a good launch, mine does exactly as you described, pulls left, then pulls right and hang on... Here is a video of my truck the, pushing around 15-18 psi of boost at launch. You will see that there is no pull at all when the t-bars are lowered all the way.

I've done a couple at 20psi with the front end close to lowered completely and it just has a slight one-two jump and then its dead straight. But I know its only time with the stock tie rods.
