If i straight pipe my LLY and leave the cats in, 4 inch turbo back. Is it going to be loud as hell or will the cats dampen alot of the sound? Im going for a good loud sound btw... Also Turbo back means downpipe too right? Im new to diesels as you can tell...
also my truck was bought in Nevada does that metter when setting off codes?

surfrippa,
If you leave the cat in place it will be fairly mild even without a muffler. Doing a turbo back means removing the cat, no one has a true down pipe back system yet as the first pipe off of the turbo is a bear to remove and from the sheetmetal ones we have made no appreciable difference by replacing it anyway!
Do yourself a favor get a cat back from someone like us, see what you think. Then see if you want to remove the cat. If you do remove the cat you will likely get a check engine light and then you will need to contact a member here called "FINGERS" he has an elcetronic fix for the light!

get both. once you see the soot that is passing through your intake through you egr valve, you'll see why. it is the best thing for you. the stick will eliminate the codes for you.
