My son has a 2000 chev diesel. The truck runs fine, then the engine cuts out, just like someone turned the key off. Sometimes, it takes a long time to restart. No service engine light. Thought it might be the PMD, so put a used one on with remote mount kit. Now, when the truck starts, it revs up by itself, then shuts off within 2 seconds. Anybody know what's wrong?

fuel metering or optical or not working properly. Does SES light?
It takes a scan for codes to say more.

Sounds like both transisters in PMD are shorted " ON" . or wiring short .
USED PMD's " BAD THING "

When the over-rev occurs on startup, their is no SES light. Makes me think it is a bad PMD. We will hookup the original PMD and see if the over-rev goes away. It is easier said than done. We removed the wiring harness from the old PMD on the injector pump and connected it to the used PMD on the heatsink plate above the intake manifold. Now, it doesn't look like we can get the wiire back on the original PMD without removing the manifold. Are there any tricks to being able to get that wire harness back on without removing the manifold?

Make an extension harness but the problem is in the pump. The PMD is only an amplifier for ecm commands to energize the F sol.
